Had a fab time! Ground very easy to find, food available nearby in abundance and parking easy to do. Great atmosphere from our fans - especially during extra time and penalties. We were clearly the better side for the vast majority of the game and should really have finished them off before it came to penalties. Roberts is an absolute beast - fantastic player. I'm glad we had Bree back as I really rated him last year before his injury and he looked the part today, pleased for him that he scored the last penalty too. Nyatanga looked solid and very dependable as usual. Townsend looked great, he commanded his area well (apart from one scary mistake), good kicking and made some excellent saves. I was very happy for him at the end for him to have won his debut match and having had to take on 9 penalties during it too! I was a bit disappointed in Pearson, he doesn't really pass the ball forward very much and he misplaced quite a few passes but he's young and he will hopefully get better with experience. He's great for his age, I think I just expect from him because of the hype. Scowen again was fantastic, no matter how much the dirty cheating barstewards tried to hack him down. Maswon looked really good too. Watkins looked good, some mistakes but overall a good performance. Sam put in his usual effort when he came on but doesn't look fully fit yet to me. Ref - I guess you can't complain too much when a ref gives you two penalties in a match but he did seem to ignore a lot of their extremely heavy challenges and yet kick free kicks to them if we so much as breathed on them. Also, it was hilarious when he was being picky over the positioning of the ball for Hourihane's penalty (and then promptly ignored the fact that their next player just chucked it on the floor vaguely near the spot). So all in all, I was impressed with most of our players tonight (with the possible exception of Pearson) and I now have a very sore throat from lots of singing and cheering! You Reds!
Disagree about pearson I thought today he got forward more than ever. It's also hard to get s forward pass when the other team are closing down as quickly as Scunny did.
Yeah I know I'm being harsh, I think I just expect too much of him to be honest. I did notice him trying to get forward a bit more than normal, but as his normal is generally never, I'd still like to see it happen more often.
When playing 5 midfielders one has go sit back. It's not his job to get forward. That's the role of the wingbacks and the 2 midfielders in front of him. There's a reason the likes of makalele, mikel, hargreaves, fernandinho hardly scored any goals. It's because they barely get out of there own half. They're not bad players though they're just diciplined in there role and that's what Pearson is. I thought he was really good tonight. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
