Judging by his surly reaction and arm gesture to that section of fans, and then sprinting away without acknowledging anyone else. Anyone hear anything said/shouted to him? I was towards that end but not close enough. Not good when our players are reacting like that but if he is getting the same kind of abuse that Dawson and Shea got at Huddersfield then something is badly wrong.
His gesture seemed to be aimed towards the Ponty/corner stand area. He seemed to touch his upper arm and then wave. Nothing untoward as far as I could see or hear.
Er, no it wasn't - definitely at the ESL section near the away end. I have a video clip taken by someone with me Wish I could work out how to upload it!
I've simply described what I saw. I'll leave the interpretations of his actions to others. Personally, I didn't give it a second thought.
I'm east stand upper towards that end and didn't hear anything. Having said that I thought his reaction was more of a "that'll show you you fxxx for leaving me out" rather than being more celebratory. Think he thought he was proving a point. The lad needs to buckle down and fight for his place. We have a very strong group of midfielders now and he has no God given right to play. If this makes him harden up then all the better. He has the ability.
Does it really matter ? he scored a pen , gave a gesture i didn,t see. too busy cheering to be bothered what he was doing , too much negativety towards players these days, if people can do better get your boots on and get your sen down to Oakwell
Ok let me try to describe exactly what happened, and as I say I have the .mov clip to prove it. He scored - great penalty by the way. He then ran along the touchline towards the corner flag and just as he started to turn he did the archetypal FU gesture at someone in the crowd. Clenched fist, hand hits the crook of his arm as he bends the arm upwards. You know what I mean! It could have just been frustration at his situation but I think it was at someone in particular IN THE CROWD. Not going to go on about it - glad to see us win the match when we could have easily lost it.
All I know is he transformed a team that looked like it would never score to one that looked like one that could and did.
He acknowledges in his press interview that there is competition for places and he needs to fight. He also acknowledged he wasn't sharp enough straight back from injury.
Looking at the video clip it looks like he's going.." Get in there " I'd say nothing to see here ,move on please
He didnt make a gesture in a bad way. I sit down there and it was just full of kids who had run down to watch the penalty. He just pumped his fist as far as I could see.
He was just pumping his fist in celebration. Why are you looking for something that isn't there? Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
The last time someone so good got so much unwaranted stick is probably way back with Nicky Eaden. The guy didn't have a pre season. I'm more concerned that a number of our players who had a full pre season to get fit aren't playing well yet.
Stuff a stoat! Wish I hadn't bothered now. No intention to stir up any trouble with this. I won't comment on what I see in future.
Deffo did it twice one in the corner of the east then As he ran back to the half way towards the ponty I commented on it. Not like I give a **** but he did do some kind of 'americanised gesture'
