Presuming the stones deal goes through and we hopefully have multimillions to look forward to at the club.(haven't got a clue how much just presuming) Does Mr Cryne ,and fare play if he does, take the lions share back to help refund the bank loans he's put in over the years to help bfc, or for whatever reason if Mr Cryne decides he doesn't need any of the money back whilst he is custodian and is happy for it to be reinvested in the club and squad? If the latter happens ,can we see a return to the heady heights we all once remember and do a Burnley,Swansea ,Bournemouth? When I talk to my young un about us in the premier etc it would be lovely for us all and the next generation to see this happen again . All it needs is investment and a good manager and academy we can be up and away again. Will ,can this happen if this deal goes through or is it just wishful thinking.OR can Stones and Holgate be the catalyst for a double promotion.... You never know.
I doubt it will happen in my lifetime to be honest. Think times have changed hugely and we'd require a competent board to spend money wisely, a competent manager who is given time, a core nucleus that clicks at the same time and isn't sold immediately for much less than their worth. Combine that with a patient and growing fan base and we have have a platform. At this stage, I'm not sure we have any of those components. Stick the money in the bank is my preference at this stage.
I know what you mean fella, and feel that way too I think I would prefer to be a really good Championship side, the premier is just a pantomime now IMHO.
with all due respect CS, whats the point if we don't wanna go to the top league? It won't happen anyway, not with current lot 'running' the club.....PC would not be blamed by me if he 'cashed out' and buggered off in to the sunset tbh. There are no signs from the current 'leadership' that they have a Scooby do imo.....too many promises undelivered.....and I am entitled to this opinion. hth
Id settle for going up for one season spend wisely the club could be then made for the next few years with the money they could bank when we came straight back down the following year
But,if we could invest quickly and with a bit of luck with the signings as well, imagine a double whammy and be there again if only for one season ,lots of coin thrown at us by the telly OAkwell swelled with fans again , But the main thing ,Memories,my little one can't understand or visualise what I tell him about the promotion season the town alive on promotion day/night getting thrashed by Chelsea etc... But look at Swansea ,should we get there by using this money quickly at to good effect we may just establish given good luck and a following wind... Surely better and with all due respect ,than watching Gillingham and Crewe etc.just look at the Everton match coming up If that was every week ...
Regardless of the Stones money, I think the only way we will ever get back to the Premier League is if we get a very rich owner like Bournemouth Look at the money being spent in the championship by Middlesbrough and Bristol City etc.
if we go up to prem all the fans will come out of the woodwork and we would get double attendance than we did in championship and then we go down and we get 10k fans again, id rather be mid championship that is financially stable
Would love to see us play in the premier league again. Sadly I can't see it happening anytime in the near future. As others have said some quality investment in order to make us a competitive championship side should be the priority.
Got to keep telling the next generation this or there's no point in aspirations or dreams .THats why we go every week to hopefully watch us win and climb the table. Nothing worse than getting told that you're going nowhere and never will whatever your up to in life..may as well give up now
Don't think many of our fans will want 500-600 quid season passes and paying 40+ quid most weeks for away tickets.
You'd be surprised, there are lots of big crowds in the premier league from very deprived areas..reckon most would manage it
the odd dalliance with the PL would be nice, but personally i feel our rightful place is championship. i want to get out this $hitpot league asap, and be back competing in the second tier.
I'm with you on this one mate, I'd be happy with establishing ourselves as a good solid championship side
Re: Not under the current ownership and board imho No , I very much doubt it will happen in the next 50yrs. The Premier League and Championship will become a closed shop with parachute payments etc. A few million bquid is a drop in the ocean compared to the debt and money being spent by other clubs. In the future we will be lucky to get the odd season in the Championship.
Re: Not under the current ownership and board imho Lost all interest in the Prem tbh, its money gone mad, Scudamore talks out of his arse pushing new TV deals as being great for the game, all it means is that they pay more and more ridiculously stupid transfer fees and wages whilst continuing to screw your average fan with ridiculous ticket, food prices and add ons at the grounds.
