It's just another way of doing things. In the last ten years we have signed crap player after crap player on longer deals. They've cost the club millions. Cryne perhaps thinks it's time to try a different method. Also, people are forgetting that we've won three out of our first four games. We've had a bit of fortune and perhaps didn't deserve all the wins, but who cares? It's been a great start to the season - especially for a young and new side. You Reds!
Isn't it more of the same way of doing things? A way that people running the club acknowledged had been a failure and that we needed to move away from an over reliance of loans. I have no real objections to a coup,e of good loan signings. All clubs at our level and above need them.
You don't know that Mawson is good enough yet. I want a squad of permanent signings supplemented by a couple of loan signings when necessary. Naming four players signed over two seasons won't cut it for me.
The problem is that it is very short term and doesn't allow us to build a squad at all. What happens in January when they all return to their parent clubs? We're in panic mode again. It's no coincidence that since we started our reliance on loans a few years ago our season has gone down hil drastically almost every year.
Scowen, Roberts, R.Williams, G.Williams, Berry and the four mentioned above. I've seen enough of Roberts and Mawson to realize that we have got 2 quality CB's. G.Williams and Berry didn't quite work out but they were decent signings on long term deals.
Because we're winning games. People have to moan about something. Wonder if people will still moan about all these loan signings if they get us promoted this season? It's quite obvious we've tried to bring in players on permanent deals and failed. The trouble is, we've tried to sign players contracted to other clubs rather than settling for players who are out of contract, which sadly means we've to pay whatever the other club is asking. Hence the reason we've failed so far and had to bring in a few loan signings. I'd expect a few more permanent signings to be made before deadline day, when teams are more willing to let their fringe players leave. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
you can argue its short termism but it could be with a long term idea in mind. maybe the players we want are not available yet but instead of buying crappy replacements were supplementing the squad until they are. maybe the clubs been informed of when we can get these players and their good enough to wait and get them when available but need temporary back up until then. the transfer market has changed riddiculously since i started watching football, this seems to be the way for smaller clubs like ours. incidentally, if we were to keep winning then i couldnt give a tinkers cuss. only saying like...
Ok let's get em all rolling in then, so what's the problem? Even can afford to pay above the odds now. Btw I think we will spend it on good players.....when the right ones are available at the right price
So we should just agree with everything the club does and praise it regardless. Might as well close this board darn then.
That's a good question. What exactly is the problem? How are we seemingly so bad with our money? Other clubs are able to sign players with their revenue yet our higher revenue (again according to Ben mansford) can't manage that despite selling mason holgate for "more than is being reported" and that does beg the question of where is the money going? As Ben also states we can't afford the match day facilities that other smaller clubs can afford It certainly appears to be being misspent.
You're disagreeing with the club on this aren't you? And nobody is stopping you. Others agree with your view, and others don't.
Actual quite the opposite. I'm stating my views which is what your advocating aren't you. My view is that I'm happy with the recruitment plan and have stated in several posts the detailed reasoning for my opinion. Do I support the club on this subject right now? A resounding yes. Do you?
Nothing I would love more than us signing 3-4 quality players, improving the facilities and all round club assets.im frustrated that we can't find a business model that allows us to invest in the club infrastructure. However it seems that transfer targets have hiked up their prices. We have had the Holgate sale 5 mins and don't know the structure of payments to us yet some people are impatient and expect us to spend it on signing players straight away irrespective of circumstance. We have signed Wabara and allegedly this lad from Cardiff. My argument was and is, that the balance of loans and permenant is part of a plan. I don't know if I'm right or not but I would be surprised if it isn't.
It's not just the loanees that's the issue its the type of loan signings we're making. I could maybe understand us bringing in the Ramage type (obviously not injury prone) as they'll act as leaders & help bring on Bree, Smith, Digby etc. But we're just bringing in loanee kids to play with permanent kids. We're still in the same boat we were a year ago which is desperate for a couple of experienced heads. I just want the club to have a soul to it again, with Hassell, Foster, Steele & to a lesser extent O'Brien we had players you could relate to & knew that they cared about the club. I've no affinity to any of the current lot. I like Scowen, Winnall, Hourihane & Nyatanga but they've not been here long enough to really care about any of them. I hope some of the current lot can go on to become them sort of players but the strategy seems to be to sign a talented young player & flog him as soon as possible. If Winnall has a fully fit season & Scowen & Hourihane keep performing I doubt any of them will be here in a years time & the loanees will be gone meaning we'll be back to square one needing a new squad. I'd just like a few dependable regulars, not world beaters, just Hassell's, Foster's, Steele's, Heckinbottom's, Austin's, Kay's of this world to go alongside the young talented players.
