Our midfield seemed non-existent when he went off. I know we'll have to get used to being second in the physical stakes, but we'll have to more creative and effective when we're in possession. Got out of jail with a point today against a team that wasn't very good to be honest. Let's hope our Coach and players learn quickly.
Most of the last 20 25 minutes, panic defending, aimless passing. Bradford had the bit between their teeth and looked like the only team trying to win it. Yes we hit the post at the end but that was a rare foray forward.
Their manager made a positive change. We swapped a player who whilst looking off it is at least dangerous for one who touched it one and that was to give it to them and moved less than me...
Pearson seems to perform inconsistently. Maybe he plays as well as he's allowed to. He certainly wasn't creative and effective today.
Can I take it you don't have an answer/ opinion on my original contention that if Pearson wasn't injured LJ got it wrong as Bradford were all over us in the last 20 -25 minutes.
Thing we had the header against the bar, the long ranger from Pearson and finally the last minute header that their goalie saved. Other than the slip by Scowan they had no clear cut chances. I'm not sure any team will be happy with a point, but unless we get more firepower we should get used to it.
The game seemed to change with the weather today. We were on top and all they seemed to want to do was kick us (to which the ref did nothing) and then the rain came and they upped their game. I thought we played decent today but we're lacking something in the guns third.
We didn't get out of jail at all. We looked like getting a point most of the game. Bradford came for a point and got one. I thought they looked a terrible side. Knew they couldn't beat us so parked the bus. Admittedly they parked the bus very well and we didn't have enough about us to break them down. As for us getting out of jail though I wouldn't say that was true. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
We also had that effort from Winnall from a tight angle. They created virtually nothing from open play but were strong, but for a lot of the first half they made it difficult for us because they had 11 men behind the ball. 2nd they came at us a bit more
I hope he pulled him with Wednesdays game in mind, but in hindsight it may have been the wrong move. Although we could have played another hour and not scored, unless its set up on a plate to shoot , we seem to prefer that extra pass which usually ends up in lost possession. Better performance than the Burton game but still lacking end product despite Sam looking more like his old self, the movement towards him when he is challenging for the ball is laboured we need to be there for that second ball.
They didn't park the bus in those last 20-25 minutes at all, they upped their game and went for it, they just weren't good enough, but the intention was there.
I wouldn't say we got out of jail, but I wouldn't have taken Pearson off. He wasn't playing particularly great, but we needed another midfielder alongside Scowen to press Bradford, and obviously Hourihane wasn't going to do that. They came into the game a lot more after he went off, but it also coincided with Luke James coming on up top for them.
Take your point about midfield, although I thought Pearson played well. We seem to agree that Bradford went on the offensive though.
I wasn't saying he was playing bad in any way, he was steady, much like all the midfield at that point. He seemed to play more advanced today, with Scowen playing infront of the defense.
