I must have been at a different game because in the game I was at the opposition had 11 men behind the ball for the vast majority of the game and yet they still clearly had the better chances and missed a few sitters.
Not a moan, just an opinion. Bradford came for a draw and sat back with everyone behind the ball. How can our centre backs have put in such good performances under those circumstances?
The only sitter I can remember was when Scowen lost the ball in our final third so nothing to do with our CBs. They had Hanson upfront who is physical and probably one of the better strikers in the division and they kept him quiet all game.
Talking of that sitter I think Davies deserves a lot of credit. The way he came off his line a narrowed the angle made the sitter more difficult.
The sitters and better chances part wasn't a dig at our CBs, I think I managed to word that spectacularly wrong. Their chances all came from mistakes by our midfielder and our as usual lack of any closing down by our defensive midfielders. My point about the cbs was more that they were never troubled so didn't really have anything to do. I know they had a big lad up front but even 'up front' meant on the halfway line at best.
Yeah Davies rushed out well and closed the angle down but you've got to be scoring those kind of chances really.
Yeah I do get what you mean, I imagine they will have much more testing afternoons than yesterday. I'm just glad to be watching what looks like it will be a very promising centre back partnership rather than a Cranie and M'Voto partnership. (And I quite liked Cranie haha)
I agree, I'd have been pretty miffed if it was Winnall at the other end but Davies did everything he could do to prevent a smash and grab. Mr Scowen owes him a pint.
Agreed. Davies did a great job of making it as hard as possible but he should still have scored. It's a bit like a penalty, a keeper deserves a lot of credit for making a fantastic save (Heinz Muller) but if the penalty taker does his job properly the keeper should have no chance.
And pint or two definitely. It was quite strange to Scowen struggling as he's arguably been our most consistent player since he signed. Maybe he's a little bit scared of thunder as his mistake was right after the really loud thunder
I think just defending their 9 corners as we did given the tactics they employ, big experienced centre forward and an area they normally do well at deserves in itself a pat on the back for our Centre Halfs
I like the look of Mawson & Roberts together, can see the relationship building between them, lots of talking & high fives. Both look like they'll take a lot of beating in the air & don't lack for pace. Mawson just exudes confidence, not seen a defender like that since Shackell
