"Save our season" is a bit strong. But we definitely need a couple of strikers, maybe another full back and possibly a winger. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Wasn't thinking relegation with that remark, but I think we should now be in a position this season to push for promotion and IMO the basic minimum requirements for that would be an older head up front to give some experience and control in that area, particularly with only a week left to recruit permenant players The team is not yet the finished article as make-up of players are concerned. Needed is a composed individual who can give confidence to the other forwards. I go along with many on here that we need some more mature players, well older than 22 anyway. Am amazed we haven't got to a position where our recruitment is over for the summer, but perhaps we have now which would be a shame.
I'd be surprised if we don't sign at least 2 players on permanent contracts before next Tuesday. As you say earlier, it's a bare minimum. However if we do get a couple in, and manage to get through to the January window in the top 10, with minimal long term injuries, I think we'll be able to reassess the situation for a 2nd half push. Hopefully more sustained than last season. I'm not sure why the flow of new players has dried up, whether it be down to waiting for Holgate to leave, Stones to leave Everton, our targets have gone elsewhere, or simply other clubs are asking for more than we can afford. I'm glad the club hasn't panicked and signed any old *****, but the lack of bodies through the door is a bit worrying. Particularly considering the majority of players we have signed are short term loans. This is the problem with insisting on going for the best players, who are already contracted to other clubs. Yes they are generally better players, but we're expected to pay top dollar for them. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I don't think the Holgate money or the Stones money is a serious issue with transfers. Why this summer has been relatively inactive I don't know but more players are needed and before this window closes.
It probably isn't the initial transfer cost but the wages & other incentives being requested by the prospective new player.
Correct Without fresh players this current squad will only achieve Mid Table Mediocrity. Do the club want to attract more fans thru the turnstiles? I'm sure they do but without at least the addition of 2 new players (NOT LOANS FOR GODS SAKE) that's where we will be heading as well as further bore fests on the field.
We certainly need another forward, at least one, preferably a big, physical lad to partner Winnall. If we're not going to play Smith then we need another left back.
Some people on here would be Orgasmic at the thought of you holding your breath---- For more than 15 minutes------- I'm not one of them
