    I was refereeing a local match on the adjoining Coop sports ground. At that time spectators on top of the old kop could turn round and watch that as well!

    I remember when I was a wee nipper watching Barnsley v Everton in an FA Cup match in about 1963, the year of the big freeze.
    That's when the pools panel came into being after matches were cancelled for weeks at a time. There was about 3 feet of snow in the surrounding area and the match had been cancelled numerous times. Eventually the ground staff rollered the snow so that it would take a stud and painted the lines blue.
    That was the only match for miles around and 38,000 turned out to see the Toffees win 3-0.

    May be only one League Cup meeting but we've definitely played them in the FA Cup. (See below)

    I stand corrected - it was missing off the head-to-head list on a few sites. FA Cup 0-3 defeat, Tuesday 15th Jan 1963, to be precise.

    We also played them in the zenith data systems cup in the early 90's, lost 1-0 Tony cottee with a header( no seriously) at the back post.
