Don't want to be controversial, but many thought it wrong to have general min silence / applause at BFC. there was a strong consensus on here that we shouldn't have done it for the 7 yr old Worsbrough lad who was killed recently. Does this have more connection with our club and the game of football?

Personally I support this and will respect it fully, but it does raise this question again.

Simply passing on the information. I'll observe it, others can do as they see fit.

I await the day we have two events to mark. One a min silence, the other a mins applause. Be like a normal home game.

Keeping my big gob shut for a minute is no trouble, even for me.

Far as I could see it was never confirmed he was a Barnsley fan. If he was (don't know either way) then it would seem strange to do this but nothing for him. Also someone died at the Cheshire air show earlier this month and didn't get a minutes silence. Is this one more significant than that one just because it's had more deaths? It's not football or Barnsley related so where we draw the line? Could we have asked for a minutes silence for Cilla Black?

    Where will it all end.

There will be a minutes silence at every game of the season at this rate.

How will we know which minute it is, we are silent for a good 90 min each match. Applause is the only way at oakwell.

    Totally agree
Sympathy to the families of those who died but this is not necessary

This is at the behest of the Football League, not the club.

    It's called respect
Wait till your on here asking for a minutes applause for someone close to you who's been taken away too soon & everyone deems in unnecessary

My Mum died last year God Rest Her Soul, But a minutes applause for her a a Football Game would be totally ridiculous.
Mine and others repects were made at her funeral as I'm sure it will be for the poor victims of the Air Crash.

Not forgetting that we lost Sir Peter O'Sullevan recently.

I've had close member of my family die recently. Wouldn't expect a minutes silence at a football match for her though as its not related.

Where do you drraw the line ?

Two amateur footballers die. Professional football pays respect.

I like cooking. I can make beans on toast. I demand all Masterchef viewers hold a minute's silence when I die.

Especially if my death is unconnected with cooking.

Minute's silence, please! He was hit by a bus, but he liked to cook. Fall silent, John Torode.
