I've read a few comments along the lines of 'he isn't the kind of lad to hand in a transfer request'. Don't get me wrong, I don't know John Stones. He seems a very very nice guy. But wanting to earn £120k per week and be in contention for a Premier League and Champions League double does not make him a horrible person. It will be hard for Stones to leave Everton - it's a club that means a lot to him. But he'd be absolutely daft not to push this Chelsea move through. Football fans are so fickle (look at how some of our fans treat our best player) and you have to do what's best for you and your family at the end of the day.
And expect bids for our players too now they have had a showcase yesterday. I would be surprised if the likes of Scowan, Hourihane, Roberts and Mawson and under the spotlight from clubs this transfer window.
i agree...but some muppet supporters feel he should earn a relative pittance and stay at Oakwell just because he is frum tarn! good luck to the lad..... a massive opportunity that very very few people get in life....so why not take it?
Look at how some of the fans treat our best player? Never heard a bad word said against Scowan. He's utterly vital to what we are trying to do. Agree about Stones. Looking for the best possible career move doesn't make him horrible. It makes him ambitious. Nothing wrong with that, as despite how good Everton are, they are not going to play in the Champions League any time soon.
I'm hoping we don't get Pearson and Crowley pulled from under us a la drinkwater after potentially building a team with them as key components of our midfield
That's the risk of signing loan players. Pearson and Crowley will undoubtedly want to better themselves and play at a higher level. Who could blame them?
Pearson, maybe, but there is no way that Arsenal are going to let Crowley leave. I actually think that last night did us more good with regard to loans from the top teams. Man United and Arsenal have got to be happy seeing the way we had their youngsters playing, so it can only increase our chances of bringing more of their better youth players in.
