their own way, especially in the obscene Premier League but most leagues really, it really does.

    NOT!

Time they had a dose of reality...get em down to the call centre or Macdonalds for a weeks work or two.

what a bunch of horrible, greedy tw.ats football people have become (in general)

on the other hand, thereev wouldn't mind a few hundred grand extra here and there and certainly would not turn it down.

.....now where did i put my SKY remote control?

Its all about perspective Bob. An extra few quid would make the world of difference to many of us on here but in the case of millionaires, where it makes no difference at all, it just comes down to greed, petulance and a total lack of reality.

Lack of reality indeed. That's what gets me. A couple of years or so of earning decent money and some (not all) lose perspective entirely. It was reported that Gervinho (sometime Arsenal "star") refused to sign for a Turkish club as they refused his demand for a helicopter and private beach. The Hooper didn't sign for Wednesday yesterday cos they refused to include a VIP box (he has denied this).

Then there is De Bruuyn with his £200k a week salary. I'm all for players earning a decent crust but he'll earn more in his first month than I've earned in 33 years of working. If I got the offer of a £200k a YEAR salary (unlikely !) I'd think my family was set-up for life.

It gets me down, and I have reached the unhappy point now where I am agreeing more and more with every post TheReev makes. That is a worry.

I'm sure you are reasonable in real life Mr Reev ............ I must be mellowing. I am sick of the warfare on here, so have taken you off my ignore list after two years.

Not a decision I took lightly, so am fully expecting you to keep it sensible in return. :D

hth ............... as they say round these parts.

I'm getting disillusioned with football, if we had a Super League team I think I'd go watch them instead.

I quite like Womens cricket :D

Can't get into Rugby League, even though I am born n bred in the heartlands, but am looking forward to the RU World Cup, thats a game I like. Leeds are closest team to me but just couldn't bring myself to support a Leeds team. Few decent local teams a bit lower down the pyramid, Otley, Ilkley ........ nice grounds and good atmosphere.

The rapper Birdman (I've never heard of him and I doubt you can name one of his songs either) made $24 million last year, or £15.6m. De Bruyne will make £10.4m, only he won't, because 50% of that will be spent in tax straight off. Then he'll pay tax on everything else he buys. Car tax, property tax, VAT. I'm sure he'll be very well off by the end of it, but it's open-market forces at work. I don't see any reason to be resentful.

Mate, my resentment is at the lack of realism (ie Sky continually glorifying the fact almost £1b has been spent this summer, and the daft money focus in general). I don't resent individual players, and God, if I had been blessed with the commitment to go with my undoubted skill then of course I would have taken whatever market forces dictated I was worth. Bitten their hand off ;)

Realistically £200k a year is still a damned good salary, but football has long since lost site of that fact.

And agree re musicians etc .... fair point.

me and our lass did this a couple of years ago,we started watching cas tigers regularly,it was something i had flirted with before but after coming out of oakwell on the back of another defeat i told her i was taking her to the rugby..We went the day after and have never looked backed since.I made an effort to learn the rules so i knew exactly what was going off and its paid off,we are at a point where we cant wait for the next match.(home or away)

it wasnt particularly the defeat at oakwell that did me but more the way the game was going, players getting ridiculous wages, players fukin diving and trying to get penalties and free kicks simply by cheating, players hounding the ref to try and get others sent off or booked, players rolling around on the floor like they had been shot,,,i was sick to the back teeth of it all...In rugby league there is none of this, the game is end to end and exciting, players would be embarassed if they behaved like footballers..You can stand(or sit) with a pint in your hand,no knob heads trying to start fights thinking they are hard, its just old fashioned banter between opposing fans

do yourself a favour and go to a few games,,next thursday cas have saint helens at home it will be a reyt match, you will not be disappointed.

    Football is obscene.

But county cricket in front of three fans doesn't excite me; I'd rather let a brown bear **** me than watch either rugby code; I won't support the deedar ice-hockey team. Golf and anything on four wheels sends me to sleep. You can't support a tennis player as you do a football club.

The only other sports worth watching are ice-hockey (I loved going to a Swedish game, but, once again, no deedars) and Test cricket which is a few days a year.

If I give up on football, there's nowt.
