We need to stop this part of L J s masterplan as its causing us one of the major problems in our game, its akin to kids game with them running round everywhere, I have either been to see or re-watched all of our games and teams are just playing the ball over the top of our on rushing players, especially the midfield, Liam Lawrence on Saturday was just dinking the ball over the top and 4 players plus were out of the game, take a look at the goals this system as cost us , plus you would have to be superhuman to keep this level of running up for a full match, no wonder our players look jaded ,L J needs to take a serious look at this tactic A S A P
Quite. On the other hand, I've noticed that most teams this season have let us have the ball in their half as they've known after our first couple of forays forward that we're not going to do anything threatening with it. Passing it side to side on the edge of the box or electing to beat a man for the 4th time without putting a ball in/having a shot is as baffling as it is infuriating. Opposition must love it though.
I don't know about stopping it but I haven't seen us start trying to win the ball back in 6 seconds yet apart from Josh scowen
good point ,we can see it ,why cant powers that be ,the only time we looked dangerous was when Crowley decided to break out of the rigid boring passing routine and take some one on
that's my point super tyke, it don't work, rushing about all over the place ,with no notion, they were that knackered in 2nd half most of em could barely raise a gallop, you cant physically do it, don't care what level your at, the more tired you get in any job , more mistakes creep in
What's more tiring, winning the ball back early and regaining possession or sitting back and letting the opposition play it around you? If we make a real effort to win the ball back in 6 seconds we won't have to spend the next few minutes half heartedly chasing it around the pitch. You don't get tired after 6 seconds of sprinting. It's not the tactic that doesn't work (Barcelona use it to great effect), it just needs to be used properly (which we're not doing at the moment). There's nothing worse than one player pressing because then they do play it around you. The whole team needs to do it. What's more, you're much more likely to win the ball higher up the pitch and create a chance at the other end.
The point being you need players with the talent of Barcelona to make it work , just wack the ball from bomb alley into the corridor of confusion for your TWO strikers to get on the end of it, jobs a good un Championship here we come
