He was running towards the right of the goal and dinked it past the keeper who caught Sam's ankles with both hands to bring him down. How the referee and the linesman (on that side) could not see that is just incredible. About as blatant a penalty as you can get. Summed up the ref's performance all afternoon that.

Good eleven minute package again on Player - usual HD quality. A vastly improved service from last season as far as playbacks are concerned. Can't comment much on the RS commentary as I have been to most games.

Loads of chances at both ends and just showed how much Swindon wanted the extra touch instead of having a go from further out. Keeper made some good saves after his early blunder. Could have been about 9-7 to us in fairness.

PS - didn't show the Pearson booking so will be interested to see that when they put the full match replay up. Be interesting to see how close he was to getting a red card, or if he was hard done by getting a yellow.

I haven't seen the highlights yet but I didn't need them for the SSW penalty though I was surprised some in here last night said it wasn't one. Did it show the handball in their area as well ?

Nailed on penalty. Keeper never touched the ball, clearly took Sam's legs with his arms.

Yes they showed that as well but it was a more doubtful one I think.

As expected Mark Cooper only commented on "how honest" his players were for not going down when they might have done. Hm ok, no need to mention how lucky his keeper was not to concede one

It was a nailed on penalty in real time; I have no idea how the ref and linesman saw it any differently.

I struggle to see how this could not have been given. Looked nailed on at the time, players thoughts so too and looked nailed on in the highlights. The handball would have been harsh

Exactly. Even if he "played" on it as some players do it was as clear a penalty you will ever see

The player app on my iPad is rubbish, I will have to wait another week before the app is up to date. There is no highlights for me to watch.
Bit of a pain when am laid on my sun bed 40 deg plus drinking beer in Turkey. :)

Was sat in the west stand and the keeper got a touch to the ball. Wasn't a pen and the keeper did very well reaching it. If Winnall's leg was a centimetre or 2 longer it would have been a pen.

You probably saw the back of his gloves then. Honestly he got a glove to the ball.

Even if the keeper touched it (must admit I didn't think so, but I'll take your word for it) it's still a penalty because he brought Winnall down who would have reached the ball. If a keeper rushes out, gets to the ball, diverts it to a place where the on rushing player wouldn't get it and then inadvertently collides with the attacker it's not a penalty. But if he gets the merest touch of the ball and takes the player out it's still a penalty.

Nailed on penalty for me - if he felt it wasn't he should have booked Winnall

Seen it now Winnall one as definite a pen as you could wish to see, Handball one would have been harsh, seen them given though.

Looked a stonewall penalty to me at the time. I've not seen a replay of it, so accept I might not be right.

Suppose it all depends what angle you view it from. Apparently the keeper:

grabbed his legs and hauled him down
tipped the ball away and was nowhere near the player
missed the ball and SSW fell over his trailing arms

One of those anyway. Suppose from my angle in the ESL it looked like contact but it was some distance away. The camera angle is not 100% conclusive so we can't offer it upstairs to the third umpire for adjudication. Bottom line is that the man with the whistle didn't give it, and that surprised me not one jot!

Just a point on their keeper in general. He was shocking! I've never seen a keeper struggle to kick the ball so badly.
