Each to their own... Problem is Adam Oxley is usually on his own & no one can do a professional service without someone cutting in to summarise every now & then. There is no build up, no half time & full time summaries. How you think this is better beats me, but you are a punter & I'm a punter & we all pay our money or don't based on our perceptions of the quality. The video highlights are much better. My only grumble with player is it doesn't run smoothly with my preferred browser, Safari, but is fine with Chrome.
Me too. I don't understand why that's not possible, unless we do get that when we're not the main FM game? Anyone know?
I never listened match commentary anyway, tbh. Need to see it. Cancelled it ages ago though, cos I wasn't watching the interviews either. Mebbi when we're not $hit I'll sign back up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I dont have Barnsley Player however i will subscribe to it then cancel it straight away so that i look cool.
When we're the live game on FM you'll get the going round the grounds bit. If we're not the main game, there'll be no such interruptions. But as annoying as that was on Saturday, the biggest issue for me is the fact the 'live' commentary is (and yes, like a sad act I timed it) a massive 1 minute and 26 seconds behind 'actual live' events. Which means if you're listening to Player now, you can't simultaneously watch Soccer Saturday (or Final Score), or read twitter etc, as you'll know about a goal or red card etc nearly 90 seconds before it happens on Player. It's ridiculous. I listened to the first half on Saturday, first time I've tuned in since the opening day which was even worse if I'm honest with its Chesterfield love-in that day. But aye, once Blackpool equalized I switched it off. A mate at the match txt me "******* wannk, 1-1" and on Player we were at the Keepmoat so I switched it off before I ended up putting my boot through the laptop. Before this update to Player (it's now HD) you had an option called 'prefer the old commentary?' and once clicked on that you were just 6 or 7 seconds behind live play. That is no longer an option. The fact they got rid of two good lads, one of which I call a good friend, that was bad enough. Their excuses for doing that don't wash either. But to replace that with BBC Radio Sheffield is beyond a joke. I can't cancel my sub though. It enables the missus to listen to Derby games she's not attending. Otherwise I'd cancel it right now. I'll just choose against listening to commentary.
I'm sure you're "cool". You don't need it Jack. Just gyrate to this instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf7yWLgpxns PS I'm getting a lot of joy in wide areas.
You need to look at the spec of your laptop. I got a new super fast one, and on Saturday the Player commentary was about 10 seconds before the actual live game. Still cancelled it though.
That was it Dyson... As far as I am aware, its the first time we've been on FM this season. All games on FM cut away to other games every 10 mins, and when owt happens ie goal, pen, sending off ect.... Where as on AM/digital you get full uninterrupted commentary , as you do when the game is just on B/player... So as long as we are not on FM the service is fine... But who's in charge of that decision BFC, the beeb or whoever owns B/player..?
Same for me - and the unfortunate fact that I renewed for the year at the start of August - after I knew about Matt and Adam but I thought we were still getting full match commentaries. Really unimpressed that a service I am paying for has been changed to one that only broadcasts commentary in bits with sizeable interruptions in between to tell me things I have no interest in Did have one good result - My Dad is old school and wont give his credit card details on line so for the last few years I bought him a gift subscription at the start of the season. You cant do that now - when I checked with them the only thing they could suggest was I gave him my card details and he used those on his account and then I wrote to them to cancel the recurring subscription. Dad fortunately wasnt that interested so he didnt renew
So why could we listen to last seasons Bournemouth game on the BBC when it was commentary game of the local bbc down south
Why? I am a 'FL Interactive' subscriber. It allows you to watch them all. Why would I cancel then re-sign up to the same service..?
Because I presume Barnsley will see the figures of who is subscribed to them. We were definitely told at one point that BFC receive more money from our subscriptions than it costs (the purchaser).
I can't cancel either, as it is the only way I can listen to the matches and enjoy the match highlights, living so far away. I must admit that the HD highlights are a big improvement over last year. The argument over who is commentating is lesser of a problem for me than the going around the grounds all the time. That is the big annoyance to me. The 90 second delay is also a big problem too. I have Apps on my iPhone which pop up the score, and as Whitey states, that's not acceptable. However, I don't know what can be done. I live across the road from the San Francisco Giants stadium. I can't watch a game on TV with the windows open, as I hear the crowd cheer about 30 seconds before the Pitcher has released the ball. It must be a TV / Radio thing.
I was under the same assumption tbh. Glad I didn't renew this season, although I had made that decision before the season started anyway due to not getting enough use from it last season.
I'm subscribed for highlights & interviews, but we get them on audioboo anyway - might be time to bail out.
If it was via a BBC transmitter it appears they hold the rights to do that. If it is on the internet they don't have the rights because its International rights they need to do that. Edit.. They probably have international rights but it must have to be subscribed to.
Update: I've now had an email from the company providing the service, saying they are not responsible for the quality of the service, since it is provided by "external providers". So that means they can take my money, but they can't control the service they provide. Tara then!
That would also be the case when Matt & Adam did it. The dissatisfaction needs directing at the club or directly with RS. What we need is somebody to phone in to praise and grumble and give em hell. mmmm who would fit that bill...? I listened to it for the last time at the weekend and the only bit i could understand was when we got a corner Wellens missed it and Westwood tipped it over the bar. Thats right int it?
Barnsley Player Not Cancelled Update on my attempt to cancel the Barnsley Player service. When I cancelled, about a month ago, I received an email from them stating "as per your request we have cancelled your subscription" and "You will not be charged further". Because I was suspicious that they would not actually implement the cancellation (don't know why, just intuition) I cancelled my direct debit with my bank to stop them taking any more money. Today I have discovered that they have set up a new direct debit and taken another annual subscription without any notice to me. Can they actually set up a new direct debit without informing me, or did they use my previous authorisation? To say I'm fuming is an understatement.
