Ive spent 1000s watching Barnsley over the last twenty plus years... the last few years with the odd exception have been *****. This season ive been to every home game inc freindlys and Huddersfield/everton aside ive struggled to stop awake ive been that bored. Even the second half v swindon was nothing spectacular.

I dont expect much as a barnsley fan excpet a team thatll go out and have a go regardless of opposition. I cant stomach this safety first lets avoid defeat ******** on offer at the moment especially given the players in the squad that can create and score goals.

If its the same v gillingham I think itll be my last for a while.

I doubt I am the only one thinking the same

    I feel disinterested.

Looking at this forum lately, it seems I'm not alone.

Same here. For years (as you know) I've had a Legends Suite season ticket, even though I miss loads of matches when I'm living in Germany. I didn't renew last season, for 2 reasons -

    1) I would miss too many matches to make it worthwhile
    2) They insisted I have a 3 course meal before every match, at extra cost (plus VAT of course). I could only avoid this by going in a different room away from all my mates, which I wasn't going to do.

I went to lots of games last season and paid on the gate. When you do that, you realise just how expensive it is for the mediocre standard provided.

This year I've not been to a single game, pre-season, main season, home, away. It's FAR FAR FAR too expensive. £20 is too expensive, never mind £27. To be honest I can't see myself going again, and I've even cancelled Barnsley Player. I can't comment on the type of football as I've not been.

Very sad after nearly 50 years, but there you go........

For me, it'll be poor health or no longer feeling a connection with the club.

I got there about three years ago, from attending pretty much every home game for 25 years and several hundreds of away games over the same period, but it had been a creeping sense of disinterest that had come over a period of years and years - partly due to I think the general football product has got more boring thanks to everyone trying to construct a pauper's version of Barcelona's brand of tippy-tap, partly due to disillusionment with the ownership of the club and some issues I had with that some years ago, and partly, if I am honest, due to Keith f*cking Hill.

I'm trying to separate how I feel.

I support the lads on the pitch wearing our shirt and whichever poor sod is the manager this week - that won't go.

However I'll only feel reconnected to 'the club' as a whole once we have new owners.

Depends why you go I suppose.
I'm not a customer I'm a supporter. The support I offer doesn't depend on how well we play, which of our best players we keep/sell/give away, the shirt sponsor, the style of the kit, the current status of the bulbs on the scoreboard, the names of commercial partners painted onto the stands or if the players are called Marley or Alfie or George. None of that matters. They're my team and I watch them every other Saturday because it feels right.

Pretty much sums me up. Others can do as they see fit and I wouldn't be arrogant enough to judge them on their actions. I would expect that to be reciprocated, too.
I've always loved watching my team, have done for decades and still do. Players & managers have come and gone during that time. Some have been brilliant, others less so (to put it mildly!). When things aren't going well, I go down to the next game hoping that'll be the one which turns our form round. When things are going well, I enjoy the moment for as long as I can, accepting the good times never last for ever.
Saturday's game against Gillingham can't come quickly enough for me.

I'm with you both. I missed loads of matches, even entire seasons due to work, personal and family reasons and now I've got the time and money to be able spend on BFC I'm loving it, even the **** matches. A 260 mile round trip is a mere inconvenience and seeing as I don't support Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal I don't have that feeling of entitlement that we'll win every week, how boring would that be?

If people really have had enough of it and you're not enjoying it then stop going - simple as - but as well as staying away from Oakwell please stay off the BBS as well, it gets pigging boring reading all your moans.

Nothing would stop me supporting my team."A puppy isn't just for Christmas" Experiencing the lows make you appreciate the highs in my opinion.

I've increasingly become disinterested, but not in BFC, Indeed, if it wasn't BFC I would probably watch very little at all. Football in General is increasingly becoming boring and tiresome. It doesn't help when the TV pundits analyse and scrutinise Every pass, refererring decision, player stood out of position etc. etc.

Like many, I don't ,demand or expect results from my team, just a commitment from the players and coaches to give their best in every game.

I can't say I'm at that stage yet. I've only been going regularly since 2007 though.

But the safety first stuff of the last few years is infuriating. It's telling that we didn't adopt this approach against Everton, and ended up giving one of the best teams in the country a bloody good game. The best game I've seen in years at Oakwell, in fact.

Why we choose to do it against Burton, Bradford, Shrewsbury et al is beyond me. But if it carries on and we meander on in midtable or worse, people will vote with their feet, as they have done steadily since I got my first season ticket in 2007.

My opinion is that it's poor just to jump ship if things aren't going well. You're a supporter through thick and thin and thinner!

I started supporting us in 2007. My first game was a 4-1 defeat. But for the FA Cup run we've done nothing. Would I stop going? The only thing that would stop me is moving geogrphically away from Barnsley.

I've enjoyed every season in parts except the one in which we got relegated. Maybe it's because I didn't witness the glory days of 97 but I would never dream of stopping going unless I had to move away
