Sadly Mr Reev I am feeling the same so if you are reading this thread Lee Jay let's change tact and have a bloody go for once!!!!!!!!!!
I feel exactly the same way DT. I hardly ever watch football on the TV anymore, I dont have Sky and I don't watch games via my android box because I find the majority of them tedious and boring especially the over paid ex pros who analyse everything. In regards of Barnsley I've already knocked away games on the head and although I will keep going to home games I am bored rigid most of the time.
Footballs changed for too many reasons to go into but Sky have been one of the main reasons it's saturation football that's done it.
Great point. I remember when all you had was match of the day, the odd Sunday match and cup finals such as the FA cup, league cup and the European finals once a season. They were special games, the whole day in the case of the FA cup was an occasion. I blame Sky entirely for the state of football.
I remember when Barnsley were playing away in midweek and the earliest way of finding out the result was by buying a paper from the paper shop first thing the morning after ........ Imagine that now .
the regime that sacks a manager every 18 months and starts out again and again with a fresh squad have only themselves to blame for the dwindling crowds,if (as we are led to believe) PC puts his own money in then its about time he took a long hard look at how he runs the club,he may have made a decent wedge out of his business ventures but his stewardship of the club leaves a lot to be desired. All this building for the future crap we hear at the start of every season only to be followed by a knee jerk sacking, then back to square one. the fcukin money he must have blown on paying managers off must be into the millions by now and its something that would have been better served trying to back a manager and build a decent squad. we've shopped at lidl or aldi and thats where we've ended up .
Funnily enough I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning. I'm not against the instant results or access to information but saturation coverage has spoilt the game in a lot of ways.
I think they're all part of the same problem. Greed, players, agents, ect all come from the billions pumped in by sky.
I won't be there on Saturday. I haven't given up on them per se, but it's ******* boring watching them this season so I'm taking my daughter to a kids' birthday party instead. Reight wnaker me. Trying hard to be interested at the moment, but frankly I'm struggling due to the style of football and how we set up tactically.
The thing that concerns me is that this is the style of football Johnson favours. His coaching badge has told him that a short passing game is good technical football. It's not. It's boring and there's nothing remotely technical abart it.There is a pseudo intellectual approach from the v-neck managers who think they've reinvented themselves as visionaries with a more cerebral approach. In reality it's people who can't play football passing the ball six yards square or backwards. You know the game is in trouble when people say Jordan Henderson is a footballer with great ability.
i'd say the majority of supporters at the top premier clubs are quite happy with the way the game has panned out for them and by turning up in their thousands and paying extortionate amounts of money for tickets they are doing their bit for the whole sky/bt sport/premiership bandwagon..I doubt very much that supporters of say chelsea and man city feel the same way about the whole experience as we do.
I'd agree with that but you can't really hold them responsible for it. If we were in the Premiership backed by Sheikh whoever it wouldn't stop me going and I certainly wouldn't be protesting about it.
Definitely agree with you there premier league supporters are only interested in the premier league especially the more established clubs supporters.
