They're punishing me for not getting a season ticket though. And I can't get a season ticket because I live too far from Oakwell, so I can't make midweek games and can't afford to come to every weekend game.
I've been there pal - working Saturdays and getting only occasionally. Thankfully that was in the days of relatively reasonble matchday pricing.
totally agree ,lots of people on continentals, times have changed the club needs to too, as for Christmas I would love to go to all 3 games so I would jump at chance of 3 for 30 quid, but I would also like to see things like a 20 percent discount voucher for club shop included, to get more shirt sales, etc, also make it 15 quid cash on day aswell, to encourage folk in over Christmas who just think, yes I will go down to Oakwell, like the old boxing days used to be we have a massive chance of getting a few points over Christmas with home games, lets get a few thousand in to cheer us on,then I would follow it up with anyone who bought the offer can buy games for rest of the season at 20 quid,we need to get people back into the habit of going to the match who knows a good year and they might be season ticket holder season after
£20 Pay on the gate ....we win they keep your money they loose/draw £15 returned simples...nobody else does it.....only LJ to blame then if the club loose out on money collected and refunds need to be paid out.
I can't believe I'm posting this again. Mini season-ticket - £100 for five games. Six would be nice. £50 concessions. Doesn't guarantee a seat for any one game - you'd still need to book and 'pay' using a voucher from the ST. Working weekends means I only get to Oakwell 4/5 times a season, plus the occasional away game, so this would be perfect for me and, I suspect, more than a few other pay-on-the-day types. Bring that in and I'd be snapping their hand off - two please, for me and the lad. It's not bleedin' rocket science.
I would have thought the club would have worked out their ticketing strategy at the beginning of the season including any discounted games. It's fair to say £27 pay on the day ,raised a few eyebrows when it was announced , really £27 for L1 . It's been said if we were top of the table we'd have an extra 4000 paying on the day , I very much doubt it myself at £27 .We've already seen with the Everton game that the club are only interested in season ticket holders so any future discounts will be linked to season ticket holders , like season ticket holders bring a mate for £10 .
Excellent post - I've a good deal with my ST - don't give a damn what offers the club may come up with during the season for non-ST holders.
You can give the club a message from me. I haven't been to a game all season and that's because they insist on charging too much to watch the product. I will go to a game when they make me "feel part of it" and charge a reasonable amount i.e. below £20. By charging an extra £2 on match day, shelving the 10% discount for online ordering and stopping the £5 reduction for Trust members, it's as if they don't want the likes of me. A supporter who has other commitments and can only get to 10 or 12 games per season, sometimes at the last minute. By my reckoning they could be getting at least £180 per season from me, but they are wanting £250 and will end up getting £0.
I've every sympathy with you. I'm in the fortunate position of being able to get to every home game (holidays, weddings and funerals aside). Because I can do that, I buy a season ticket and get a very good deal. As I'm paying up front, I expect a good deal. A few quid off every game. What I actually get is a 50% reduction compared to pay-on-the-gate supporters. That's overkill. I don't want my season ticket to increase in price, but I believe those who pay on a match-by-match basis should not have to pay double what I'm paying. £20 sounds reasonable to me and that still means my season ticket represents very good value. If we want to flourish as a club we've got to do right by those who, for a variety of reasons, cannot commit to a season ticket. They're just as important to the future of the club as I am.
Is it time for a petition or something to show the club that £20 is plenty? Paying £27 to watch Barnsley v Shrewsbury Town is an absolute disgrace!
I fully support the 20s plenty idea. It is. If I didn't have a season ticket I'd be posting similar to pontyender. 27 is scandalous for division 3 football and I'd simply not pay it. What can we do though? A mass walkout on 20 mins? Everyone leave their seats and head for the concourses? Enough to cause a disruption and be noticed but without making anyone give up too much. Would enough season ticket holders take part in a demonstration?
The majority would be catered for with a 3 games for £50 offer over the festive period. I'd be happy as I'd be paying £16.66 per game and ST holders would be happy as theirs would still be the higher discount. It would also have a better chance of a higher take up than the previous two-for offers, which usually comprise of a midweek + Saturday game. Many people aren't ST holders because they either work midweek evenings or Saturdays, so those offers are useless to them. Edit: I know one of the three games is on a Monday, but it will be a holiday for a lot of people.
How about this. I am sure the club makes a good mark-up on merchandise, particularly shirts. They should be pulling out all the stops to sell shirts in December as Xmas pressies ....... why night offer a match ticket for a tenner with every shirt for a December game of your choice.
I honestly dont think theyd give a ****. The problem is to avoid an us v them blackpool senario. what I would like to see is someone like bfc dave study the books and try and confirm what was paid into the kitty then potg returns. Then it would give some indication of how the match day tickets may hqve been priced.
