We need to stick with him The problem will be only the hardcore fans will be in attendance! Atmosphere will be like a funeral wake. Some will say it's like that at Oakwell at the moment. There not wrong!
From what I've seen, there's been a distinct lack of movement from our players. So it doesn't matter what formation you play, if your team mates aren't willing to make those moves into space while in possession, the safe (pass it sideways) option will always prevail.
I actually thought it was a good point at Blackpool because there starting to turn there season around a bit after a horrendous start . Last 3 games Barnsley at home 1-1 Lost at Gillingham 2-1 to a 81st minute goal Bet S****horpe away 1-0.
Come on Lee lets get them full backs pushing on and get them midfielders running into that box I can feel another drubbing coming on.
If you win the majority of your games then there is very little analysis of the performances. When you don't, there is, and a good deal of people have put our failure to do so down to negative tactics. I don't think we necessarily are negative. I think we're too slow and methodical in our build up play, allowing the opposition to regroup and get back in numbers. They're very difficult to break down when we allow that to happen. Second half against Swindon was one of the few exceptions to this. I'm not sure if that was because we upped our game or Swindon allowed us so much space. Having said that, I think our major problem is the age of the squad. Too much inexperience and inconsistency. I haven't a problem with that if we keep the manager and this group of players, as next season they'll have more experience and offer more consistency, but history tells us we don't do that and we'll be pressing the reset button again soon enough.
I don't care what formation we play. Some teams are tremendously entertaining playing 4-5-1. My favourite formation is probably 5-3-2 though I'd like to see this new dangled 5-5-5 given a few games. If you are playing any sort of fluid formation you need to encourage your players to make offensive runs and avoid 'safe' stat friendly sideways passing. It also helps to have some real pace in your team. It's definitely more difficult to play more Complex formations with players of more limited ability. Xavi and Inesitia run it perfectly lads more recently playing for Wycombe or Plymouth not so much. Played with players of lesser ability it's no surprise that it becomes turgid and dull as players choose the safe option. It's early days for this team but we have a budget that should propel us to near the top of the league. We are currently under performing on this criteria. It's also probably fair to say that we have 8/9 players who would get into pretty much every other team in the league again based on this you should be able to get a team firing and heading upwards. This has to be the challenge of the next few months. The teams that got promoted last year were attack minded and didn't play 4-5-1 so perhaps we should be looking to follow their models rather than having rigid ideas that we can't adapt.
To be fair Blackpool hadn't got a point at home this season and have'nt won at home since last January , so its understandable that folk might have thought we had a fair chance of an away win
That is VERY selective statistics and you can't really include our result in their form before our game can you. Blackpool's last 6 (as common in form guides) prior to kick off against us: LLLLWL League position: 24 Oh aye, they were in promotion form....
Great point. 451 is an attacking formation if the midfiders are travelling quick to support the lone striker. It can work. I've not been as down as most of you seem to be because I recognise that neither Rome nor barnsley was but in a day. I would argue that we have a bright and honest and open manager who has a plan. How quickly we get to achieve his objectives is anyones guess. However one thing I do know is that we have to be patient . That word again but the word which is ignored and dismissed by many a 21st century footy fan. Get off the guys back
I would have. I've been saying it for a while now how bored and fed up of not only the football on show but listening to him. He needs to sort his act out and fast because the honeymoon period has been over a while now and the time to see some improvements is now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
