It's the same one (I think) that we get every week but I am now convinced he puts his comments on to the footage without actually seeing the match live. Couple of points:

Apparently we have a midfielder called ScowDen. Yes, that one who plays for us every week, yet you can't get his name right!

"That was a nasty challenge" - the nudge in the back from George Smith on their Number 16 that caused the player to go down clutching his head trying to get our man sent off. Of course, the fool Deadman booked Smith for nothing more than barging yet let their players get away with GBH often enough.

"Tired legs in that Barnsley defence" - this was the challenge by Crowley who had not been on long and is not a defender anyway! That was the stupid foul by the young lad that they nearly scored from, the ball coming back off the post. This comment convinced me that the commentator could not possibly be on the gantry watching the match.

It just shows what rubbish commentary coverage we have now. There is this character who probably records his pithy comments from a London studio. Then we have NO commentary whatsoever on the full match replays, and, of course, the RS commentary on the day. The video quality has taken a quantum leap forward this season. The commentary has gone back to the stone age!

PS - not seen us get so many hard, low crosses into the six yard area for a long time, and none of them were converted. Unlucky mostly, especially the last one that SSW connected with but the keeper got a lucky block in.

Surprised you've only just figured that out.

Used to love listening to Matt and Adam's commentary back on player. Dropped a huge bollock getting rid of them.

He seemed to only know the name of one Gillingham player as well.

Well I have suspected it of course, but yesterday just confirmed it. Lazy, incompetent "journalism". My God, if I had a job like that I would have the names and pronunciation of every member of the team that I was commenting on just right. How do these people get into this line of work?

If you watch Chesterfield vs Burton on player ( you can log on to Chesterfield player with the same email address and password ) it is the same guy doing the commentary as the Barnsley game.

I don't really care to be honest. I still think player is good value (as far as it goes in the preposterously expensive world of association football). I am happy to watch full match replays home and away without commentary and as I live 200 miles from Sheffield, I'm not too bothered about the Radio Sheffield commentary either.

That doesn't surprise me. I wonder how many more he covers? He's rubbish, whoever he is!

This isn't me knocking the Barnsley Player service by the way. I've been a subscriber for years and it is definitely good value, even though I now live close enough to see all the home games. It's just an irritation, if you like, to add to all those who have commented on losing our local commentary team. Suppose there is little point in pursuing that though - they are gone
