You know how it goes, new manager has to have HIS players in, it doesnt matter if they are no better than what are already here, he JUST HAS to have them. Then when we sign them, you get posters on here saying how much better than they are and the ones we had were poor anyway. they ALWAYS believe that because it is a new signing, they are automatically a better player. Davies was dropped , not injured.
Aye, because there's been loads of people clamouring to post about how much better Townsend is than Davies .......
I don't know why he was dropped. I always thought the goalie was a position of consistency and you only changed them for injury, suspension and significant loss of form. Personally I think Davies is the better of the two.
I don't need to mate. There might have been the odd eratic opinion, but in the main the majority of fans didn't understand Davies been dropped and have mixed feelings on our current number one.
I think townsend has potential but he scared the **** out of me when he thinks he is Manuel neuer Davis everytime for me
Looking forward to having a second look at both goals. Seemed suspect on both. He was faultless otherwise, I like him. But I prefer Davies.
I think Davies may have been dropped for him lacking any command in his box, we conceded a goal through this (possibly the first Shrewsbury goal, I can't remember if I'm honest) and he was dropped soon after. Both keepers seem quite similar in their abilities and I don't think there's too much difference in them. I'll watch the goals again to see if Townsend could've done any better. You can't see **** sat behind the goal, I've got no idea how people sit behind the goal every game.
Given they had two shots on target in the game, I agree he was faultless otherwise... Cos he had **** all else to do. First goal he was indecisive, if you were watching them after it went in Mawson had a word - his response was to mouth back at Mawson. Second goal I had no opinion on as it was too far away - but having just seen it, it is nothing less than woeful goalkeeping. Near post, nowhere near the corner, poor positioning and slow to move. I don't rate him if I'm honest, Davies every time for me.
Think I'd definitely start Davies next game. If he's mouthing back after having words from his captain and looking woeful in what I thought was his best attribute (his shot stopping) then don't think he merits another start
I reckon Davies will play in JPT but good, bad or indifferent I think he will give Townsend the league games back in. I wouldn't chop and change goalies as the defence need to build confidence with him. So in essence I would have kept Davies in originally unless he goes on a poor run.
That's the way I see it too. Our goalkeeping coach probably talking up more the guy he already knew from elsewhere. Davies was wrongly dropped and I don't buy into LJ saying stuff like we have two number 1s and that selection is down to the toss of a coin.
Both keepers have there fault, Davies kicking, or owt back to his feet, is always a little worrying.. But I don't think Townsend as taken his chance
