http://experimental361.com/2015/10/04/season-so-far-league-1-3-oct-2015/ I've just been sent this link (for Prem, Championship as well) which I found to be quite interesting.
Third fewest shots in the league. That won't come as a surprise to anyone, other than perhaps our manager (and a few blinkered people on here who refuse to acknowledge how we've been playing). Although we are clinical, which is a good job or we'd be knackered. Bang average when it comes to the opposition having shots and how many of those go in. The solution seems pretty obvious to me. Have more ******* shots.
Us having the third fewest shots can't surprise anyone that's seen us. I miss the days when Hourihane would shoot from anywhere. Come on Conor we all know you can do it.
There were occasions on Saturday, Jay, where they actually refused to shoot. 25/30 yards out, Hourihane in particular, time to have a pop, but chose a backward or square pass. He looked a millions mile away from the Hourihane of last season. But not in a bad "he's *****" kind of way. He just sat deep, spraying/pinging balls (brilliantly to be fair), and, getting stuck in. The opposite of last season, where he concentrated solely on scoring/creating. I can only assume it's by design. But it leaves a very crowded centre of midfield with neither he, Scowen or Pearson doing much attacking. None of them gave Winnall any support, he was left to fight off two huge centre halves for 90 minutes. But then he puts over a dream cross and Sam does what he does. It's as obvious as it is otherwise dull watching us right now. I can't wait for tonight...
Languidly clinical says it all. Equates to robotic football. If we are to believe our board are into this kind of measurement and reporting, I hope they are taking notice. The recent ticket offer is wallpapering over the cracks, a more attacking emphasis will bring results and the crowds will follow. Wek up Lee before its too late.
So only Crewe and Blackpool are more shot-shy than us. Jay is right that only a select few will find this surprising.
For such a 'stats driven regime' we have in charge I'd suggest that the shots one may get overlooked or glossed over whilst they select one where we're doing well in! Thank **** for set pieces!
Well he likes his technology & stats does our Lee. Be interesting to get his take on that little lot....☺
