In some ways I'm quite relieved to see our highly undemocratic political system revert back to a simple choice between right & left.

For the years since the Iraq war, when anyone with a conscience started to desert the Labour Party...

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2859189.stm

we have had 2 parties trying to claim the “middle ground”.

Now in my opinion that middle ground has moved so far to the right we are now happy to privatise schools, prisons, public transport, the postal system, our energy supply … where do I stop...
Just compare this to other countries, like France, Germany, etc... they would never sell off these things in a million years. The East Coast line was the only one worth travelling on FFS...

The Tory Party have totally lied in their manifesto ...

As a small business owner whose business was losing £500 per month 10 years ago, tied into a town centre lease & with the only other option of losing a house he'd worked for for 20 years. I lived off tax credits and at the mercy of family & friends.

To hear Jeremy Hunt's comments at the Tory conference is highly offensive. I would have lost my house, gone bankrupt & would never have been able to start Hi-Life, my DJ business that will be paying £7 into the treasury this year in tax & NI.

Also, as a friend to many people who have come to this country in recent years & have worked their nuts off to help support our pension system & NHS I am equally offended by the comments of Theresa May. (Comments Mr Farage has applauded).

Typing this in candlelight, as builders work has lead to no lighting here tonight I DO remember the 3 day week & loads of stuff that didn't help us either. I'm just saying the seesaw needs to be balanced back up at the next election.

    Rant over.

You are right, but they are heavily regulated & they are German owned. Obviously they provide a lot of our power too.
Let's hope we don't go to war with them again...

    Who are? E.ON?

Is that why they have a massive part of our energy market?

We are now in the bizarre & scary position of having a Chinese Nuclear Power Station. I thought most racists may accept a Chinese Restaurant, but surely this is taking the biscuit?

    You've lost me.

Either you really have paid £7 in tax and NI because you did lose everything- and if that is the case then I misread it and I am truly sorry for a misguided attempt at levity.

    Or

It's a typo and my misguided attempt at levity has been rather ill received.

Either way I have no ill will towards you either now or in the future, I just won't read your posts as your insult was unnecessary at best.

    7K ???

    Not a fortune admittedly.

I live in a one bedroom flat in the nicest bit of Headingley though, although half is owned by a housing association...

    7K , SORRY.

If I was Amazon, or another friend of the Tory Party I could earn about £300k & pay that.

As It is I earned 28k last year & paid £7k. Hope that clears it up.

I blame the Lib Dems - initially at least

They had more in common with the labour party than the tories

Alas they got into bed with the latter

That gave the tories a way back into government

To anyone who votes Tory or is considering voting for this obnoxious party just consider this:

They claim to have 'won' the election and have the backing of the people of Britain, but and it is a big BUT, they got just 36.9% of the vote with a turnout of 59.4% that gives them just 21.9% of the total electorate. These people are pushing through anti union legislation that In the case of 100 teachers asked to strike, the action would only be lawful if at least 50 teachers voted and 40 of them backed the strike

Yes I read your post and the responses from others, there was a simple misunderstanding from you stating £7 and missing the k off. Someone tried some humour on that, you got abusive. It was as simple as that.

The point is no one even tried to comment on my initial post, but instead decided they would make remarks about the £7 typo.
Its quite obvious that the k was missing, otherwise the whole thing would make no sense.

Its fairly typical of this board in recent times that the biggest thread of the week was about Tom Daly getting engaged & people making childish homophobic comments.

There is clearly no point having a serious debate on here about anything.
