We have had a succession of good managers at Barnsley since Patrick Cryne took over at the helm.

So I can't understand all the flak Lee Johnson is having now............Lee Johnson is a good football manager.

We also have a good Chairman who is a Barnsley fan through and through - and wears his heart on his sleeve.

And we have a great set of people supporting Patrick Cryne in Maurice Watkins and Ben Mansford.

I know I've said this before - but I feel it needs saying again in light of the negative comments being thrown at Lee Johnson on here - the only problem we have at Barnsley is that unfortunately Patrick hasn't enough funds to move the club forward.

Its nowt to do with the managers at the club - they are, and have, done their best under the circumstances.

In my opinion there's been more than enough money spent at Barnsley to have established us as a Championship team. Unfortunately it appears to have gone indulging Simon Davey and Mark Robins and paying off a succession of managers. The promotion in 2006 and the start of the following season was handled so badly in my opinion that it set us on the downward spiral that we are still on.

    A succession of good managers?

    Your having a laugh!

Lee Johnson is a good manager?

The jury is still out but so far he has been Carp.

The flak Lee Jay is getting is because we are Negative Negative Negative in our ambition to win football matches.

    Football is an entertainment industry.

Precious little entertainment as things are apart from the odd fleeting glimpses.

"For goodness sake let it drop!

Its boring the ****** off everyone!!!!"
Now who was it who said this? Telling other people what they should do whilst not being prepared to follow the same advice? Is this yet another case of 'Don't do what I do, do what I say!'?

So in a nutshell then Nudge, it's Patrick Cryne's fault that we are playing so negatively this season with a talented set of young players against ***** opposition! god give me strength

I wonder if all those folk who no longer post on here are 'knackered'? Reading comments from them posted on my wife's Facebook page, it would appear not.

I agree, I wish they would return to the board. But they're certainly not knackered by either posting less, or not even posting at all.

We certainly have the funds to get us out of league one but I think you have a good point beyond that however just competing in the championship would be enough for me. With regards to LJ, the jury is still out but I would say that if we don't / can't get out of league one it won't be lack of funds to blame, it will be down to LJ.

    Correct Mario

The buck stops with the manager.

I just wish we could grab this division by the scruff off its neck. The standard is very poor

I agree that we have had a succession of good managers, all of whom have had degrees of success, but not to the level we had hoped for in establishing us as a successful championship club. Hill has worked miracles again at Rochdale with less resources than at Oakwell - he constructed a good team here, but was unable to hold the key players such as Vaz Te, Drinkwater; Flitcroft is flying at Bury, getting them promoted and could be on for a double promotion, again with limited initial resources; Mellon got Shrewsbury up on a shoe-string, but is now struggling with the lack of ability to bring in better players; Robins lost key players such as Shackell, when I thought we would have been set up for a serious stab at promotion; we had some high points under Davey and he did have some quality players available such as Anderson.

Somehow the message is that we need to support these good managers as best we can. As fans, we do that from the terraces; as a board, it has to be done whilst living within our means. I think that the board have backed all managers recently to the level which is within our means, which indicates that the greatest additional factor in support of the team's success will be the backing from the terraces.
