I have listened to Radio Sheffield on way home and read a few threads on here all blaming the formation for the result today. I have been to every game this season and in my opinion the formation worked well today against Crewes narrow midfield in that Wabara and Harris got all the possesion that was required to win a dozen games!! The problem was we had no end product with delivery into the box. However when we did find players in or around the box there we had no quality, or bad decisions were made. We had around 20 efforts on goal, that should be enough to win any game!!! Therefore I believe our biggest problem stems from a lack of quailty not a choice of formation.
The problem was only winnall in the box. With cross after cross you simply HAVE to fill the box and due to our negative formation we made no attempt to do that.
In previous games i would agree with you but today there were numerous times when we had the numbers in the box.
Hes not a target man is he? He needs Smith or some form of target man to play alongside him. He's our best player and our biggest goal threat so why arnt we playing to his strengths? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He is not our best player. Today he did nothing to suggest he was worth a place in the team. When Smith came on he did far more in the little time he was on.
Because he isnt suited to playing in the system! He is our best player by a milliom miles yet we arnt playing to his strengths. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
chances were there and goals will come eventually but defending is the big problem. if a attacker goes forward he has to have faith defender is going to be able to cover him if by chance he gives ball away and they have took 2 of there chances today from very very little which does not say much for our defencive skills theres isnt a proper leader who organises the team
