One knee jerk reaction last season and where are we now, any improvement being 3 points above relegation!
There has been progress of a kind we have gone backwards at a rate of knots. Crap decision at the time looks worse with hindsight.
Wouldn't say we have gone backwards Wilson didn't get sacked when he had us top of league cruseing looking like barca. But it hasn't got better with Lee Jay exept the winning run last season that Burton and hecky started.
One of the worse decisions the management of the club have ever made. And I don't for one minute think it was Mansford that made it, because he couldn't explain the decision with any kind of conviction. It sounded to me like he didn't believe what he was saying when he said it.
Load of absolute ********, Wilson was ***** and hos sacking was in no way shape or form a knee jerk reaction. We've had two bad results and everyone's in meltdown.
Wilson was awful this time around his teams looked absolutely clueless. LJs teams are not clueless. It's obvious what theyre trying to do. It's just too high a level of playing style of them to achieve it consistently or effectively. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Well, saying we've had 2 bad results is one way of looking at it. Another way of looking at it would be to say that we've played well about once all season. We have pretty much a full strength squad to choose from at the moment and have done for the most part since day 1 this season. What the **** is going to happen to us when injuries start to bite - is this as good as it gets? Wilson had far more to contend with and was building, albeit slowly and not very prettily I grant you, and no-one will convince me that we would have finished last season any lower than we did, and no-one will convince me that we would not be in a better position now if he had still been here.
What was he building exactly? We was getting tonked by the better sides in the division and scraping the odd point off the lower end sides. The football was far less entertaining than it is even now! The fans ended up fighting amongst themselves, the gates dropped by a thousand within 2 months. For me sacking Wilson was probably the best thing to come out of last season. As others have said LJ is 90% there, he's still learning and in my opinion we are in a far better place now than we would have been with Wilson.
Where as now we are not getting tonked by the better sides and are losing to the lower end sides. It's loads better. We'll just have to disagree on the fact that it was less entertaining than it is now, there were some awful games last season but imo it has never been less entertaining than it is now. And we'll have to disagree on the fact that we are in a better place now than we would have been under Wilson. You think that, I don't.
So lads, what we're going to try to do is score ten, so if you could do that it'd be great. Pop the cheque in the post, Pat.
It's a big improvement on DW, his spell for me was the worst, most clueless managerial performance since we went back up. LJ has some decisions to make and some learning to do, he's fetched in a decent squad but needs to use them better. If his dad had been our manager we'd have put 6 past Crewe today.
Wilson got us playing some decent stuff up until the Chezzy away game using the pace of Cole and Williams and the finishing of Winnall and Hourihane. 3 of the 4 were then injured/gone so he went to Plan B which was to play dour safety first football presumably until January when he knew that O'Sullivan would arrive to replace the lost pace and Winnall would be fit again at which stage I presume he would have gone back to Plan A. He never got the chance. Now we have a manager who has one plan and no ability to change things and that plan appears to bore everyone to death. Of course I can see what we are 'trying' to do unfortunately Pearson and Scowen are not Xavi and Ineista. 90% there More like 9%. Johnson also needs to have the courage of his convictions if he plans to play his favoured system he needs to drop Winnall and play Smith (who must be the costliest sub in League 1). If his brand of football is to succeed he should choose the right players to operate it and not be swayed by others. In my view if you have two 20 goal strikers at your club you play them both as the opposition would need to score a lot of goals to combat this but that's not Johnson's view and you will never be a good manager or be able to translate your ideas if you don't use the right personnel to operate it.
His lack of a plan B is the main thing I've been criticising all season. Also to have so many lonees, many that are sat on the bench, when the stated intention is to be a side that develops our own players. Bree has only been seen in the hospitality suite this season pretty much. In terms of results we are doing exactly what I predicted. Inconsistent. Not gonna go down, but no chance of promotion. Mansford & Cryne need to work out what we are trying to achieve. I don't think in reality they expected promotion this season. If they were going for promotion we'd have signed a bit of experience & not relied on so many short term loans.
I think that the only improvement since Danny has been a few new faces in the team, but what good are new faces when they are not allowed to express themselves? Was hoping LJ would be out last night but if he doesn't get a win in the next 3 matches I reckon he will be walking.
