Let's see where we are after Christmas - but in reality, at least another 12 months. At the minute I'm unimpressed, something needs to change but we all know changing managers more than some people change their underwear doesn't work.
I'm undecided so went for not arsed. We need continuity but summat needs to change and change quickly. Should be a LJ needs a kick up the arse option.
I think I'd be a hypocrite if I said sack him as I'm one for giving managers time but I really think the blokes clueless. His signings & his tactics make no sense to me. I think the way he's treated Davies has been shocking. I can't help thinking it'll only get worse as we've only had 1 player out injured, what happens when we have 3 or 4 out?
1 for me. I don't think changing the manager is something we should consider this season at least. Next Xmas if we're still struggling for progress maybe. I can see why people might have a different opinion though. I do like a big butt too.
It's a bit early to be even discussing this. Are we further on than last year? Probably. At least we have got rid of our big earners and are not noticeably worse off. In fact, defensively, goalkeeper aside, we have got some good players there. The 4 across the back have been fairly successful, and Roberts too looks pretty good. I am happy with Pearson and Scowen. So 7 players are already ok in my book. We fall short on our attacking play. We need an attacking midfielder or number 10 who really attacks the box when crosses come in. I would like to see Smith with Jackson playing off him, just to see how that changes the dynamic of the attack. Ideally Ryan Williams in the mix as well and Harris continuing to attack down the left. No place for Hourihane, Winnall and Watkins in that team, but just lets try something different!
Of course it is. But it didn't stop loads on here throwing their teddy art last night, declaring our manager wannk, saying they're not going anymore, etc etc.
That is the thing JamDrop it will be the board who make the decisions not us. If he does depart then Mansford and co need to go with him!!
In an ideal world we would appoint a decent manager and be able to stick with him for years. Unfortunately we havent appointed a decent manager in 6/7 years and so we end up having to keep changing. Its time again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd support him if he were more flexible in his decisions but he's not going to change so in 12 months it will be no different, he's just a very ordinary manager with no imagination.
So we were ****? And that's enough after a couple of months of the season to call for the managers head, to say you're not coming anymore etc? Justifiable maybe, but not exactly being a supporter. I was bored stiff at Donny last week, I've called a spade a spade all season, I like to think I'm fair/honest. But I've seen nothing that would shove me towards coming on here and calling for another manager to be sacked, nor coming on and saying I'm not going to attend games. Have a grumble, a moan etc. I'm all up for that. But we're a dozen games in or summat, plenty to play for, and folk want us to go back to the beginning again with another new gaffer. And no doubt call for his head in six months time if we're not Bayern Muniching teams to death as we waltz to a win every week. I just hope the lot of em hold their hands up when LJ and the lads get things right, which they will. In my opinion.
I had to vote for option 6. I can see what he's trying to do, but he is doing it with young lads & ones who have a lot to learn. To be a winning manager you need a plan B. There isn't one. i don't want another sacking, but if there isn't a change I think he will have has much to worry about as the turkeys that will be history by christmas. I'm on the side of sticking with it, but this is an entertainment business. One up front vs team at the foot of the table? It's like me kicking off a wedding set with 90 minutes of "Music for Airports" by Brian Eno. Technically brilliant, but won't attract many to the dance floor, sadly. I'm a DJ & promoter & the world I live in is even harder & these days is a lot worse paid, so if they make him walk the plank I won't weep. I think it would probably be a mistake. For me Ben Mansford was a very bad appointment. I'm a very proud Barnsley fan. (If I'm DJing a wedding with 100 Leeds fans I'll tell them i'm a Tyke). Statements from Ben that we are going for promotion this season were total ******** from day one. If we were we would have had 2/3 experienced pros in the team & we wouldn't be starting the season with 6 loans. LJ for me knows the squad is threadbare in many areas & seems to have gone for the same sort of negative play we saw under Danny. I honestly think we will be in L1 for a long time, unless we have new leadership. (I'm not saying new owners). For me Mansford has done **** all at this club. The story about the dropped hot dog on saturday summed up the lack of service / love for the fans at the club. No wonder so many have already walked.
He's about 8 months in now, not 12 games, and we are actually a worse side now than we were when he came in. I never wanted him in the first place and after being patient beyond belief watching his dull, boring tactics being put on display weekly, to the detriment of some of the best attacking talent in this league, I think its time he went. There is just nothing there that points to any sort of improvement and there is nothing in LJ that makes me believe he's willing to change anytime soon, regardless of how bad we are. Times up. I don't think most are basing their frustration on just yesterday, as bad as it was its just another mind numbingly boring 90 minutes that we've had to endure. I will still be going to home games but it's become a chore and as fans we should be looking forwards to games. I want LJ to succeed but I fear that unless he changes his philosophy and stops stubbornly sticking to a questionable game plan then we won't progress and ultimately he will be sacked putting us back to square one.
In the corporate world with results like this against realistic expectations we have he would have gone by now for absolute certain. The shareholders (in this case the fans) have a right to better returns. It's a business as well as an entertainment
