When will we Barnsley fans show patience and give a Manager time to get it right. Every year we bring in 10-15 new players and wonder why we we get nowhere.

If we sack Lee Johnson the cry will be 'the new Manager must be given time to build a team' then 3 defeats down the line- 'time for a change'

Time for a change in attitude me thinks.

Must have long term view, if we keep sacking Managers nothing will change.

We are not that far away

When we have confidence that we have a manager who is actually any good.

you can't just give a manager time infinitum if there isn't some promise that giving him time will be rewarded with a positive outcome.

If I was given a top job at work and some months later it was apparent that I just didn't have the aptitude to do the job then I wouldn't expect the management to just give me more time to learn it whilst the company goes down the pan in the meantime.

My recollection was that, barring some dissenters, most of whom never wanted him back in the first place, most fans were OK with the idea of giving Danny Wilson more time to get it right even though the product at the time was rubbish because more people accepted that he had some pedigree. Unfortunately, the board's attitude was not in synch with the fans on that occasion, so I think we have shown that we could be patient if we had a hope of it coming right.

At the moment, I think a large percentage of fans are devoid of any hope that we have the right man and that it will come good. And even if results do improve, there is absolutely no chance that it will get any more enjoyable to witness it.

Depends if we keep appointing the wrong man.

you're kidding right? - we are fecking miles away.

What were your posts after Everton home, Millway away and Swindon Home. How far were we away then?

I don't think it's about performing miracles. All most Reds fans want is to see entertaining football in the short term, and some hope of progress in the longer term. Lee Johnson comes across as an enthusiastic student of the game who has a great rapport with the players. His ideas would probably be sound in the right context - which I take to be a club with more resources than ours, and with a core of more experienced and reliable players to go along with the promising youngsters.

But the reality is that this is League One. It's a hard league where Arsenal-style football and pretty formations get results less often than hard graft allied to a modicum of skill. Barnsley folk like to see an Alan Little, a Darren Sheridan or Neil Redfearn prepared to run through a wall for the cause. Of the current bunch, I think that only Josh Scowen typifies that sort of spirit. Like the players, LeeJay will have to "earn the right to play" by drafting in an experienced midfielder and central defender to do the heavy lifting. If he can't, then we'll probably go on swapping managers until we find one (by luck or otherwise) with the right blend of vision and pragmatism.

I'm normally in favour of giving managers time & if there's genuine signs of progress then I'm willing to be patient but come on, look at his subs, look at him picking his goalkeeping coaches buddy for keeper, look at him building an unbalanced squad, signing a player coming off a 10 month injury, trying to fit as many central midfielders in as possible & losing games with Hourihane & Scowen out wide, losing on at least 3 occasions to last minute goals, no idea how to break teams down & bragging about signing players who championship clubs wanted & then been ***** anyway.

Is this a manager that deserves time? Not for me. He doesn't know what he's doing & we're only going one way under him

The Everton game keeps getting brought up as something to praise Johnson for.

Any manager can get a team up for a cup game. Me or you could do that. How much motivation do you think they need to play against Lukaku, Barkley, Stones, Jagielka etc live on Sky? None.

The question should be why can't we come anywhere near to the performance levels in that cup game in the league?

Same as Davey, builds a team of talented individuals, garbage most weeks but they play well on the big occasions in the cups & he somehow gets praise for it.

As for Swindon, I went to that. It was a bizarre game in that we weren't great until we scored & could've easily been behind at the break. Fair play, we were good when we got the goal but it's a sad state of affairs when we're having to bring up individual games to defend a manager.

If he does go, the only person I'd want is Steve Evans. He's the one available who knows this division

Would not be a popular choice with many on here but he has more success on his cv than Lee Jay has!

We don't bring in all those new players because we change managers, we bring them in because our loan players and short term contract players leave and need replacing

Following Barnsley is like being in an unhappy relationship. Very difficult to walk away from that relationship so I am hoping we stick with Johnson and if he takes us down I see that as a reasonable grounds for divorce. I could then walk away without any guilt.

What I don't like is changing the manager and sticking with the hope that things are going to get better and it never does.
I have started winding down as it is, stopped going to away games, player cancelled and I no longer buy a programme.
