The main reason for unrest at the moment seems to be the boring football we're playing and it can't be argued that at the moment the football is pretty boring to watch but if we're honest at the exception of a few games it has been since relegation to L1.

But from what I've witnessed, that is more of a league issue than a specific club issue, we've been in L1 now for over a season and I have only seen a couple of teams that play even remotely exciting football. Surely this is something we should accept being a L1 club that any attempt to play good football will mostly be cancelled out by the way that the other team plays. So my question is, is playing exciting football in this division a realistic proposition?

It should be otherwise what's the point of bothering

Exciting football to me is trying to get the ball forward as quickly as possible, similar to the great escape season under Flicker.
None of this tippy tappy nonsense between the back 4, and none of the boring one up front rubbish.
It's simple really, goals win games, that's the aim of football, to score goals, from open play mainly, and we have a good enough defence to prevent conceding.
It's not rocket science, and all this ***** managers spout about triggers and bomb alley and special human beings and all that **** is just tiresome. Say it how it is. If we are **** we are ****, If we are good we are good.
And for God sake play players in their proper positions!

It's a sport, the point of sport is to win rather than entertain. If we entertain along the way then great but I didn't see much complaining about the boring football when we won 6 games in a row last season. And well if the entertainment value is what decides a manager's fate then nearly every club in L1 needs to sack their manager surely.

Can't argue with the first bit of that but as far as I saw yesterday, everyone was playing in their correct position. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Smith isn't an attacking wing back in my opinion

Im sure they were, it's just a pet hate of mine, every manager we have had since I can remember were determined to play players out of position. The best being Campbell Ryce in front of the back 4, oh and Dawson on the wing!

Both Bristol City and Mk Dons managed to be both good to watch and successful last season.

He could be, just lacks a bit of confidence at the moment. His crossing is usually better than what it was yesterday.

But when Bristol City can bid £8 million for a player, they should be entertaining to watch. Can't speak much about MK but they had a better budget than ours I reckon.

I hate it as well but from what I've seen, Danny was much worse for that than LJ.

Could be but isn't. I don't understand why we consistently try to change somebody's position. He's a good solid defensive left back. Why isn't that good enough? I'll tell you why. Because Pearson and scowen are so weak that we have to play two players in one position meaning we miss a player elsewhere and someone has to take up the slack playing two places at once.

Bristol didn't spend that much in league 1. Mk Dons like you I don't know. Of the teams in league 1 currently you would expect us to have one of the bigger budgets so money shouldn't be the issue but OK Rochdale play good football with spending nowt.

Glad you've said that because I've got to say Scowen seems immune to criticism from the fans but from what I've seen recently he's been bang average at best. Seems like he knows that he won't be dropped and he's resting on his laurels too much.

I don't buy the bigger budget nonsense BM comes out with, if we had we shouldn't have to rely on loanees like we do and the Holgate money would have been re-invested too. Regarding Rochdale I think the trick is Keith Hill has been given time to build something there, we don't give a manager that time.

Fact is we are quite happy to plod along now as we are doing, with young loanees that probably cost naff all, in anticipation of the money we will receive from Stones if he is sold in the next couple of years.

Then surely that is a problem beyond the manager's control.

I agree about time. You have to attract the right guy and give him every opportunity. Walsall are another good example. Playing some nice stuff after giving a manager the chance. It is possible to play good football in this league though and when you do it is generally successful so that's the answer to your original question.

That aspect obviously is out of LJ's control.

What is under LJ's control is the squad he has at his disposal now and the direction he is taking them out on the pitch regarding tactics, formations etc. And it's plain to see, given the talent of the squad, that we are seriously underperforming, and that is an issue that needs raising.

The majority of the first XI are more than good enough for this league. Bad tactics, man-management and over-reliance on loanees (again) are enough evidence to prove he's the wrong bloke.

If the club want to give him time to "learn" then fair enough but I'll be saving my hard-earned. This is just Davey's tenure all over again, only in a shitter league with shitter teams. Saturdays are no fun anymore.

Remember when we were all looking forward to League One because "at least we'll win a few games"? What happened to that? We'd struggle in League Two.
