Come January the Stones transfer saga will be in full flow again and chances are he'll be sold for a hell of a lot of money possibly £50 million plus meaning Barnsley FC allegedly will get a substantial cash windfall. If it happens do my fellow reds supporters think the present club structure and management will use the money wisely or waste this possible golden opportunity to progress and get the club back to where I think it belongs the top end of the Championship. Personally I don't I fear it will be wasted and the golden chance spurned but I hope I'm wrong.
worrying thing is i reckon johnson has all these midfielders on loan with one eye on the stones transfer and he'd go and make them permys - so we'd be no better off apart from freeing up another 5 loan slots for him to fill. if he doesnt bring some experience in the january window there could be trouble ahead.
We should be pissing this league on our current budget. I would rather we got the Stones cash to consolodate in the championship when we get back there, rather than waste it to get out of a poor league. I don't trust LJ with that money at all. I'd rather wait until at least next summer when after the Euros he could be worth 50-60 million to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich.
or he could pick up a bad injury and lose a lot of value. All pie in the sky until it happens. Hope he gets a good run to play at the euros tho. Will make watching worth it cos i cant be arsed with england when hes not playing
Right now I'm convinced the Stones money should be put aside. Next time Mick McCarthy is out of work we should beg him to come and let him spend the lot.
We should not need the Stones money in this league, we should be banking it for times when we do need it. We already have one of the biggest budgets in the league plus the Holgate money which should be more than enough for a decent manager to negotiate his way out of a weak third division.
I'm more worried about losing Hourihane and Winnall. Could be the best time to cash in on them from a financial point of view if we're not doing well.
With our crowds/ST holders, match/ground sponsorship, owners backing, Holgate money, squad full of loanees etc I'd be bitterly hacked off and disappointed if the Stonesy loot is required for us to be competitive in L1
