Cryne and Taylor together on our board have been involved in how many managerial appointments now? 10? A dozen? Only the Andy Ritchie one worked out. So even if we did sack Johnson i'd have little faith in doing something they rarely do, which is to get the right guy.
Just because I've just read it on the BBC site... on Rosler at Leeds "Previous head coach Rosler, who was relieved of his duties after just two wins in 12 matches, promised attack-minded "heavy metal football" when he took over in May. However, the Whites have scored just 10 goals in 11 league games this season and fans were critical of the team's cautious approach in matches."
It's a shame we can't find our own Dean Smith, a local lad who played 140 games for Walsall and returned as manager.
We have, his name is Paul Heckingbottom. Smith was the Walsall academy manager before his appointment same as Paul. When he and Mark (Burton) were in charge, we mostly just patted Mark on the back with the good work because he was doing the interviews etc. But I would put a few quid on the fact that Paul did a lot more than he was credited for. If we did get rid of Johnson (not saying that's the right or wrong thing) although I do agree with the poster above that said whoever we appoint would probably end up looking like a poor manager with the way the club seems to be run, then we should give him a go. I think we would all be very surprised at him.
Yes I imagine he'd leave the job he's just got managing a club in the league above, with a board who appear to know their arse from their elbow, to dash across to the well. Probably for less money. No brainer.
If Lee Johnson got the boot, which I really hope he doesn't I'd love to see Hecky and the other lads have a go. I know Paul quite well and he's a cracking bloke and he lives for Barnsley FC. I remember when he signed from Wednesday and he said it was the happiest he had ever been. Top bloke, and the same can be said for Bunny.
