Here's my view, can't disagree with any of the comments.... 1 Businessman buys a new business 2 Said business is a new venture in which he has no direct experience 3 Businessman recruits someone to look after the books (Don) 4 Business gets hit by recession (FFP & Relegation) 5 Bookkeeper retires so businessman looks elsewhere 6 Low budget for role determines recruitment of someone with a strong CV, contacts but no experience 7 Job offered to Ben as CEO 8 Ben is young and his experience is with young players, he knows the wage structure at that level 9 Businessman buys into policy of recruiting CEO's contacts 10 This includes the manager 11 New manager in place 12 Spreadsheet introduced (every business needs a spreadsheet) 13 Players identified and recruited to a profile 14 Players buy into vision 15 Vision starts to fail 16 Players start to fail 17 Customers start to leave 18 Businessman panics Refer to step 9 and repeat There are no doubts other steps to fill in. That's all
That would make sense about Danny as he wouldn't put up with rubbish. Maybe they said LJ will be the last one as he doesn't argue back so they won't sack him? Cryne has said that he likes Lee and they get on well. The constant weird selections do make me wonder if someone else if playing at manager and LJ has to do what he is told. If that is the case, they may as well just do it themselves and save the club a wage.
I dont believe that it is anything to do with businessman hiring a low rank ben mansford as we had serious problems under patrick cryne when don was at the club and when gordon was too. There are two constants, Patrick Cryne and Barry Taylor
Because he has no football expertise and is just a fan but he is a fan with ultimate power in what is essentially a dictatorship. Now that is most likely not deliberate and he doesnt intend for that to be the case but when he owns the club, is the clubs major creditor and he is the clubs landlord as well then it stands to reason that what he says goes. He has 100% power at BFC and it is not healthy. Imagine if I owned the club due to getting rich in a totally unrelated business and I had ultimate control. We'd go through managers weekly, have bobby hassells kids filling the squad and would have a scoreboard so big that it blocks the away end off. It wouldn't be deliberate but I would make decisions based on what I want and that is most likely what happens with PC. Its his money, his club, his land so what he wants is what happens and that is not a good way to run a football club.
Tbh I wouldn't say there isn't a problem higher up but that's pure speculation, certainly they have to take the blame for some disasterous appointments, What is more tangible is what's on view on the pitch you can hardly blame them for tactics that have the same effect as a mogodon on the fans, minimal attempts on target and really weird substitutions.
I see what you're saying, but hindsights awesome. I genuinely believe PC has the very best interest of the club at heart. It costs him a fortune to make the decisions he does. Why would he want to fail? Almost every sacked manager has had the fans support, and almost every new manager has been backed by the fans as well. LJ was the new mourinho, 5 games in. Flicker was the second coming. Hill was a god, before we lost butters, Danny and vaz te. Whereas Wilson could $hit on your kids and would still be idolised by many. We HAVE to break the cycle. And that includes the fans. People dig at PC - there's no one worse than us lot, for wanting to pull the trigger. I've seen several posts saying 'look at hill and flicker now, should have stuck by them'. But at the time, everyone wanted their heads on a stick. He's given him a 3yr deal and publicly said he'll be his last manager. I still think he's got to stick with him. Totally get the concern though. Right now he looks clueless. I've stopped listening to any of his interviews. I get my views from what I'm seeing out on the pitch. $hit innit Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
So do I. I don't for a minute think he does. If I ran the club I'd be desperate for us to succeed and it would be the club's very best interests that would be in my heart, but I'd be no good at it either.
It's where we are though. PC has said times many, he'd give the club away, if he thought it were in better hands. He's repeatedly said no one has stepped forward. I've got no reason to disbelieve that. None of this is new. Either way, I don't think he's got more than 3 yrs left. So we'll see.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I can't appeal for Mr Cryne to go. It's his club, he can't be dismissed and I haven't got a viable alternative. But I can voice my opinion on a Barnsley FC forum that it is the decisions made much higher up than the manager that are the root of our problems. Particularly at a time when calls for the manager's head are gathering apace. Not that I'm seeing a lot in Johnson at the moment, but I don't believe sacking him at this point is the answer. I don't want to see our owner abused. But I would like to see more discussion about where it's all going wrong rather than just laying all the blame at the manager's door and seeing his dismissal as the answer to our problems.
To sack a manager based on how the players look at you when he openly declared he didn't even know who John Stones was or how good he was is a bit rich. Maybe his actions or the things he was saying to them were what made them glaze over. Also what if his failings to even know who his staff were caused him to lose some respect?? Who knows. But he sacked a manager based on what he was seeing after a speech from himself...crazy. I think their showing in the game following at Crawley showed what the players thought of the decision. The only folk with fish eyes now are the supporters. I looked around and half the ponty were on their smartphones on facebook or playing games the football was that poor. Saturday will be a morgue as well. Im going out at 12 to get pissed first so it numbs the pain. Will be int silkstone if you want to join us lol. Who knows the game may seem a lot better with beer goggles - bit like that 2am munter you once pulled when pissed. Its only morning after you realise how bad it was.
