He played like he knew what his role in the team was, and looked alot better than when he played with us.

    Harris is better IMHO.
    He did ok though.
Walsall are a poor team - like every team in this league
    We were just worse

I'm not sure it can be concluded that Walsall are poor. Or that every team is poor in this league.

They passed it about well and obviously have 2 or 3 good players. Are second in this league. Looked a decent team to me, were quite impressive, and completely outplayed us.

He wasn't really in the game to be honest.

All I can say is he took his chance well when Nyatanga ****ed up

Played better than Harris did for us as our wing option. Celebrated the goal really well too. None of this garbage about respect for a former club so not going to celebrate. Giving 100% for his new employers and showed it in going crazy in front of the poor away following.

I reckon Harris could play for us for 100 to 200 years without actually scoring or assisting a goal. All huff and puff.

I agree they were a good side passing, moving, through balls hit at pace into space not floated to a static front man. Best side I`ve seen this season.

No 10 ran the game without breaking sweat.

Set up the first goal, scored the second. We paid to get rid of him. And recruited Rothwell and Scowen in his stead. Wallsall are 2nd in the league with double the points we have. We are 19th, 1 point above relegation. ******* hell fire.

I thought Walsall were an average side at best and the fact they're second says more about the quality of this league than it does about the quality of them.

I think they were a bit better than average. They looked a decent team to me. Miles better than us. What they weren't though was an MK Dons or a Swindon from last season.

Hi all, Saddlers fan here. I keep reading that this league is poor and people don't rate us. I agree with the comment above about there being no outstanding Brizzle or MK Dons this year, but there's not going to be when there's no silly money like City's £8m+ budget. Ours is a quarter of that so us, Gillingham and Burton are doing ok in comparison.

As for us being poor, we weren't at our best last night but we were missing 5 first team players, 4 of whom got injured on Saturday, who also happen to be some of our most experienced players, despite the young squad we're got.

A few fans were cautious about those coming in to replace them such as Lalkovic who has spells of form (he's good when he can be bothered basically), but they got the result, and have done all season, and play in a way that is good to watch.

Many other clubs say it won't last, and it may not do, but we constantly heard that from bigger clubs such as Man City, Preston, Burnley etc etc when we beat them all to automatic promotion in 1999. There's a good character to this squad which is similar to back then.

Anyway, a point about Lee Johnson. No one likes seeing a team on a losing run but I think LJ will prove to be a decent manager sooner or later.

There were many Walsall fans calling for Dean Smith's head over the last few seasons who couldn't see the bigger picture, that he was restructuring the club from top to bottom and slowly building the squad with a limited budget when players came available that he'd been watching, even though he lost his best players every year to other clubs.

Much of the criticism was similar to what I'm reading on here about playing too much passing football and not shooting enough, playing too many kids etc. Thankfully the board ignored the stereotypical modern impatient fans and the benefits are showing throughout the club.

The same can be said of the other longer term young managers such as Karl Robinson, Dyche, Eddie Howe, and Mark Cooper (until his ridiculous sacking). They all play a similar way and were allowed to build squads and improve over time.

I think LJ is a similar mould to the above and needs time. You're a big club with big expectations, and want instant success, especially with the extra TV money in the Championship next season, but sometimes it's better to play the long game.

My view on last nights game : -

Despite you guys having the best of the first 20 minutes I thought the 1st half was pretty even although you could argue we shaded it based upon the fact we created 2 or 3 half chances. The second half was a different kettle of fish and our bizarre change of formation at half time put paid to any chances we had. Walsall moved the ball quickly & into wide areas full of open spaces and literally tore us to pieces. The only surprise to me was they didn't 'walk in' more goals than the two they got.

A fully deserved win for Walsall & a quick mention to the big NO10 you had in the centre of midfield. Best player on the park bar non & also did well to keep his head when our central 2 were clearly going around the place losing theirs ......

Good luck for the rest of the season ...... from what I've seen so far of this league, there's no reason why you can't maintain your top 2-3 position.
