I live there too, well, Haworth, but anyway it clearly says 'Braford', which is somewhere else entirely. I'd take issue with that anyway. Sure, parts of the city aren't great, but show me a city without that. Bradford is doing more than most to encourage a positive, multi-ethnic image. Loads of initiatives going on to integrate the various communities right from early school age. Vibrant city centre - major new shopping centre opening next month and an increasing number of nice eateries and craft beer pubs round North Parade. Massively improved University, the National Film & TV Museum and work continues on restoration of the Odeon into a major arts and live music venue (the Beatles played the opening night of their opening national tour there!) Oh, and the curries....

Having lived there for the best part of 10 years, I can't argue with that. Stuck up in the Pennines, it's ******* freezing, all the ******* time. Everywhere you walk is uphill. The road infrastructure is appalling. One road in, one road out. Unemployment is rife. The mills shut and nothing replaced them - one reason being that transport is such a ball ache. The council expected people to move on, but those originating from the Indian sub-continent tend to be very family orientated and stick together. Some of the housing is just horrendous and should have been pulled down years ago. There are still back-to-backs.

Nice curry and nice Asian supermarkets, but it doesn't make up for it.

I don't think the shopping centre that should be opening next month will have much impact on the lives of the residents of Bradford thus far. I do think the huge hole in the ground did though.

I've lived in Shearbridge/Listerhills, Lidget Green, Buttershaw, Manningham and Idle. I'm not sure someone from Haworth will have seen the same side of Bradford that I have.

For a city that is visibly and genuinely trying hard, though, this kind of lazy journalism, written by someone who's probably never been near Bradford or Hull, doesn't help in the slightest.

    Just seen this article elsewhere.

It might well be the worst place in the UK, it might not. I live here, I'm happier than I've ever been, earn a decent wage, have a wonderful partner, own our own home, not been the victim of any crime in the (nearly) four years I've been here, I work alongside many people of different nationalities and religions etc, I'd like to think I've learned a few things in doing so, I go on holiday when I want, my broadband speed is great, I enjoy a walk through the city centre now and again with its fine selection of shops, pubs and cafes, I live 100 yards away from some of the best countryside walks you could ask for and enjoy taking our dog on some long old walks, we have an airport, there's a new shopping centre about to open, we have the finest curry houses imaginable and they're plentiful, there's a **** football club to watch if you fancy it, a rugby league club who used to be good, museums, the Alhambra puts on spectacular shows, the City Park is quality, and we have some other cracking northern towns/cities/villages right on our doorstep.

Are there things about living here I don't like? Yes, it's not Barnsley. Other than that, can't complain.

Makes me piss how they've split all of Northern Ireland into quarters and all four different areas are still in the top ten worst to live lol

Barnsley, Doncaster & Rotherham better than Devon, Somerset and the Isle of Wight, I think not.

It was 40% owned by Leeds, 40% Bradford (councils) originally, so I think they've fair claim to it being theirs as much as Leeds. It's since been sold/privatised, Bradford council were the last to agree to sell in 2007.

Yes, yes it is. In winter I often set off to work in winter sunshine and get there to find snow. Snow that stays around for weeks and weeks. Oh and the fog! I've never known anything like it around my work, there's nothing at all and then I get a couple of streets away and you can barely see in front of you.

In the 80's / early 90's Bradford was a great place for music & culture.

    Sad.

I hate Bradford just because of the traffic. No idea what it's like to live there but the traffic alone would rile me

There are only two places I venture into Bradford for, the theatre which is really good and the other is sonic direct which is really cheap. :)
