It can't always just be about the manager. The last 4 or 5 haven't been able to make it work, it goes much deeper than than that, but those people seemingly aren't to blame. Ring any bells?
Carragher talks ****** ....and Leejay is still a ***** manager....tho Carra may have a point for once.
Ironically, Villa sacked their last manager the same week as we sacked DW. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
He's right, its a collective failure between a board, the manager and the overpaid waste of space players but the manager always carries the can.
Villa's owner was or maybe still is? Looking to the sell the club and refused to pump any serious investment into the squad, the same cant be said here. The only similarity is that they, like us over the last 5/6 years have continually employed totally inept managers who then needed replacing because they were so poor. No serious investment? According to sky Sherwood spent £50m in the summer. I'd call that serious investment.
On who? They also sold their best for £32m. If you look back over the last 5/6 years I'd imagine they'd be one of the lowest spenders of the clubs who have been there for that period. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He brought 10 players in on permanents, half of which were c £7m. Fair point about Benteke being sold but it was reinvested.
Well I dunno where he's wasted that then, they look awful. Then again, £7m on a player in that league is a small amount. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
David Moyes being linked to the role. No way is he leaving sunny Spain to live in Birmingham. Makes me think of how much over the years Robbie Keane has been linked to Villa. If Robbie told his wife they were leaving Los Angeles to live in Birmingham he'd be getting divorced.
Similar things were said on Sunday Supplement regarding Sherwood/Aston Villa. One of the journalists was knocking the moneyball/spreadsheet policy, with young players brought in purely to make money on, and forcing the 'head coach' to play players he may not have wanted to be signed. It reminded me very much of us. They also lost Delph. I wouldn't have thought that they spent as much as they brought in from those two leaving. Moyes will probably be pushed out at Real Sociedad before long.
Sherwood is so far up his own arse ....he cannot and will not believe he is anything but the next JKlopp.......he is a fekking useless cockney wide boy...another one. hth
I don't know enough about Sherwood's tactics & decision making but I'd be interested to know if he's played as many players out of position, ruined as many players confidence & chopped & changed the formation as much as Johnson has
£300k net spend at a club that has been in continual decline since O'Niell left isnt sufficient investment in my opinion. I actually dont mind them as a club and I dont mind Sherwood either, think he'll end up being a success somewhere but he's jumped straight in at PL level and thinks thats his level now, he needs to take a step or two back and rebuild his career. That is a massive problem for us. We've gone from one extreme (signing past its) to the complete opposite end. Nevertheless we have, IMO, the most talented group of players in the league and we should be doing far better and would be if we had a decent manager. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Net spend is a bit of a smokescreen though. Sherwood spent £50m on players. His team was arguably weakened by the sale of 2 players but he's spent all that money still.
Maybe so, maybe not. But we haven't the players to give a balanced side hence why we struggle. Red Rain could explain it better than me but he seems to have disappeared.
