Jamie Carragher just said about Sherwood losing his job

Thats what I mean, we have gone from signing virtually nothing but past its with little youth yo the complete opposite. We have not balanced it out with experience and youth, hence why I wanted players like Gary Roberts brought in in the summer. But, like I said, we should still be challenging near the top of this league regardless of the age of the players weve signed with the quality they have.

Yeh your right he should have been doing a lot better with that kind of money but how do Villa attract somebody of Benteke's ilk to replace him? It'd be virtually impossible without spending the kind of money they got for him which means he either gets a few lesser players and hope they turn out decent or blow all the cash on someone quality and theyre virtually in the same position anyway.

They weren't that much better with Benteke and Delph tbh. Good reinvestment should have lead to a stronger squad IMO. Those 2 aren't exactly world class.

 

Id argue Benteke is when on form.

I think with Villa they signed a lot of players from abroad. If you buy foreign you have to be prepared for short term struggles as it normally takes them a while to adapt.

I don't know enough about Villa's new signings but I've seen a similar recruitment strategy at Newcastle with the signings of Mitrovic, Wijnaldium & Mbemba who for me will be very good players but short term they're struggling. You've got to be brave & back the manager in that situation

 

He's quality when he plays well. 1 game in 4 though. He sometimes looks bang average.

 

Yeh just shows the difference he made last year, first half of the season he wa bang average, Sherwood came in and got him going and he pretty much kept them up on his own.
