Strange Fruit.

That some people castigate the club for being poorly run but they are the same people who generally want to sack the manger every 5 minutes. Surely they have given you exactly what you wanted but now it's not worked out as I'm sure it was mentioned it wouldn't instead of sticking up for em you criticise those who run the club and did what you wanted.

Of course your solution to this is to sack another manager. Some people will just never learn will they.

 

My solution would be to stop appointing bad managers.

Not one ounce of confidence in the folk who run the club.

So sacking people hasn't worked your strategy of getting shut has completely failed so your next plan is to sack everybody. Including the bloke who owns the club. Don't fancy your chances there.

 

Of course Hill and Flitcroft and to a lesser extent Mellon have proved that's exactly what we did but unfortunately the whingers hounded them out. Patience isn't a virtue unless it's tested.

Would you agree that Hill has done a fantastic job at Rochdale and proven himself an adept and capable manager? I'm no fan of his in fact I can't stand the gobshite but it's clearly wrong to label him a 'bad' manager. The same for Flitcroft another 'bad' manager flourishing. The same way people hounded Wilson out and are now trying to do the same with Johnson. Sad that you can't see it as I know you have the best interests of our club in your heart. Repeating the same mistakes will result in the same outcomes to paraphrase a made up quote.

 

That's their concern surely not yours. Again your strategy of sacking everyone every 5 minutes is an obvious failure. It doesn't hurt to hold your hands up and say I was wrong. No one will think less of you. It's ok.

 

Hill was quite rightfully sacked, he had given up or that's how it seemed. Flitcroft just lost the plot and Mellon wasn't given a chance. They're all proving to be decent managers at other clubs but it didn't work out (Mellon the exception) with us. Danny was disgracefully sacked in my opinion and I have no idea why Johnson was recruited (I have my own theory) and I feel he is a bad appointment. What all this tells me is that the whole set up at the club is fundamentally flawed and the manager alone can't be held responsible.

 

I don't disagree and I can't stand Hill. To call him a 'bad' manager is just daft though. He failed with us doesn't make him a failure.

 

No it doesn't but we generally just base opinion on their tenure with us. Maybe the championship was just a step too far for him.

 

Yes I'd say that's fair. We were the wrong club at the wrong time for him. It's weird though that clearly capable managers like Danny and Hill and to a lesser extent Flitcroft and Robins couldn't make it work. Expectations aren't high. Win more than you lose at home and develop the odd player.

 

Not too sure. I would love to have known how things would have worked out if our entire midfield weren't wiped out. It crippled him and us. We never recovered and it was all downHILL from then on.

I must admit that up to losing our entire midfield we did look a good side. We'll never know but it would have been interesting.

I think you're close to the truth. The issue a lot of fans had with Hill, the fact he alienated a large proportion of the fan base masked the underlying issues with Hill.

 

Mellon was never manager!
