Saturday was one of the worst performances by a Barnsley team I have witnessed in a long long time, dare I say Spackman-esque!! The real worry is that we created nothing and never looked like scoring. I think we need to back him but how far do you go? If we are still in the relegation places by Christmas I'm not sure how much further you can flog a dead horse? When do we throw the towel in and say LJ is the wrong man for the job?
Nowt wrong with you opinion Andy, in fact I have a healthy regards to your posts as I do with some others on here. You've nailed your colours to the mast. Top Respect for that. I disagree but out of my option or yours I hope yours is the correct one because that would mean things have turned round and progress will be forthcoming. I just hate it when folk like to use the Condescending points scoring card! Same with the better fan than you! At the end of the day if anyone on here is happy at our predicament they need to go take a running jump! Not one offer for ticket either. Very Sad. See I can be serious once in a while: )
That leads us nicely into a song Kev. You put Lee Johnson in, You put Lee Johnson out, In, out, in, out, shake him all about. You do the Hokey Cokey And you turn it all around. That’s what it’s all about!
Its all a bit catch 22 for me, I don't want another cycle of the managerial merry-go-round, yet what I`ve seen from LJ last and this season ainta impressed me much or entertained. So like yourself he`ll get to the end of season when my ST runs out to improve himself and those at his disposal before I decide on renewal. He needs to pull up a few trees.
I understand exactly what you mean. There is a fine line between holding an opinion and stating it and berating others who hold a different opinion. I do hope that i haven't crossed that line, and I don't believe I ever do as I am not one to play keyboard warrier as I would be too chicken to say the same thing to someone's face so why should the internet mean different rules apply. I can see the kind of posts you are referring to both ways as it could be argued that the "defend that Happy Clappers" posts are soliciting an update on whether more people have changed their mind, but it is the way that they are worded that is wrong, and the attaching labels to people according to whether they are in one camp or the other (or on the fence) is what can irritate. But we are a broad church as they say and different people articulate things in different ways, same as they would in real life. I hope that the next 10 wins can persuade me that I was in the wrong camp. I actually don't like being of the opinion that LJ should go, as it feels all too "here we go again" but I just think we are backing the wrong horse on this one.
As I said, mate, the quality of your posts and your reasoned approach openly attracts both debate & respect. Overtly aggressive comments don't. The BBS should be a broad church, welcoming a myriad of opinions, without the need to belittle those who have a differing interpretation of events. I'm more than willing to listen to what others may say on a subject and hope to treat others as I'd prefer to be treat. I don't believe Johnson, like Danny Wilson before him, has had long enough in the job to decide whether he's a good manager, or not. He's only had the chance to work in one transfer window, for example. But there's no doubt that for the majority of the season so far, what has been on offer has left a great deal to be desired. I feel he should get the opportunity to steer us through this difficult period and move us back up the table. Others, like yourself, see it differently. I can appreciate & respect that opinion.
Aye me too despite a day in 'sunny' Huddersfield being more appealing than a trip up the road to Oakwell.
So your backing the Manager and don't want him sacking even though the football on show doesn't make you want to go watch and you've lost that much interest in the club you weren't even arsed to check how they were playing and what the score was on Saturday. So we have to sit and endure it while your sat watching another club.
My decision to watch another game of football was more out of deciding to spend time with the missus, we made a real family weekend of it, something I need to do more often. The standard of BFC's football has been poor for most of the season, that isn't why I didn't use my ticket. I'd have stopped going years ago if that was the kicker. It's sort of a good point though, can't blame you for asking. But your last sentence is a bit daft. I don't watch another club. You know why I watched that game. And you don't have to endure anything, as I've proved to myself this weekend, you have a choice. I'm not interested in winning a mythical prize for being bestist fan or whatever.
Bit your post is a bit daft also , you say you back him dont want him sacked and he should get the full season, what if we dont win for 10 games, 15 games , you just don't know whats going to happen . You've also posted that your not arsed anymore, , it doesn't bother you if you dont go, your not bothered if we win or lose anymore, you said things need to change to keep you interested beyond this season, you feel apathy for the club. Well if we'd won 6 games on the bounce instead of losing 6 games and played well I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be feeling that way, so I'm just confused why we should just accept that we are being served up as supporters. Probably termed it wrong saying you watch another game while we endure *****, you could have been sat on the settee watching Soccer Saturday for all I care, my point is your choosing not to go anymore and questioning your future turning up at all after this season as are many more, my point is if the football on the pitch was better you and many others wouldn't feel the way you do.
You don't have to accept anything. that's the point. I raised my ire regards the club in February, and other decisions they've made since then I've also disagreed with and said as much throughout, via this forum, blogs, podcasts, whatever. It's hardly a new concept that I'm very much at odds with the strategy of signing loanees galore, increasing ticket prices, not improving the catering/alcohol at games, sacking employees, making ridiculous statements about the club at meetings etc. And I too think LJ's struggling like **** and have pointed out where I think he's going wrong (which could be wrong as I'm not a qualified coach). Just a supporter me, nowt special, not telling others what to do, how to act, when and where to support or not. But me having a weekend off doesn't mean I want LJ or anyone else sacked. I would like stability, and for the club to refocus itself on being a community club, of realising its potential, giving its own young players a chance before borrowing them from other clubs. Had we won five on the spin, you're right, things might feel different. Only natural. But we haven't. So I'm dealing with facts, events that have happened. Unfortunately, that has led to me not feeling as enthused as I usually would be. But sacking LJ will only exacerbate that feeling. For me. And I'm comfortable with my choices and decisions, so don't worry about me matey, just as I wouldn't judge or worry about your view. I would though like to hear it. So, how are you feeling right now?
I'm just worried that people who I feel are passionate about the club like yourself are fast losing interest . When someone who is a lifelong fan can't be even bothered to check the score of a match he's not gone to and couldn't care less if we've won or not then something is really wrong at the club to be turning lifelong fans apathetic. I believe that is down to mind numbing boring football , a coach who is obsessed with trying to play the Barcelona way in Division 3 , a coach who couldn't stop the rot last season and seems to be stumped how to do it this season , a coach who played the same way at his last club is now boring the pants off our supporters. There are many many things wrong at this club at the top and we need fresh ideas and approaches but that's for a different thread. This is about Lee Johnson and he's failing miserably, he can't motivate , looks lost during games, makes bizarre substitutions but most importantly plays terribly defensive boring football and this is what is driving fans mad. Head Coach , manager whatever , he should be getting more out of this group, a group who are not playing as a group and look confused on the pitch. I'd give him 2 more games , if he hasn't turned it round then he's got to go otherwise it will be an empty Oakwell next season as more fans take the same idea as you and stay away completely , don't check the scores and don't care if we win or lose. Apathy towards a football club is very hard to reverse .
I'm fighting through it, pal. It was only one weekend and whilst it didn't bother me missing it, I'm not going to make it a permanent thing. Back as usual next month.
