Gloucester are discussing renaming their T20 side Bristol. What would be your attitude if Yorkshire renamed their side Leeds?

Would probably still support them but wouldn't be very pleased at all.

Furious. I appreciate rebranding may be beneficial for some counties, particularly those in conurbations which either cross a number of minor counties, but Yorkshire cricket is the biggest name in English cricket. The strength of brand is in their name and the county covers so many cities that it would be absolutely divisive. Furthermore, if T20 moves to a franchise system the franchise should be Yorkshire. There's no reason in a reduced format based on cities that Yorkshire couldn't and shouldn't remain as a single entity.

Yorkshire is a much stronger brand than leeds. It makes more sense in Birmingham and bristol as there are are a few counties in close proximity to the cities...
I went to watch Yorks 20:20 this season, but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch leeds.

Warwickshire did it when they became Birmingham Bears for the T20. I don't know if it caused any issues for non-Brummies. Does anyone know?

I don't think Yorkshire would ever become Leeds though. Many Yorkshiremen are not too keen on the wannabe capital of the North for various reasons. Anyway, what about the anthemic chant:

    "Yoooooooooooorkshire!! Yooooooooooorkshire!!"

Warwickshire have been known as Birmingham Bears for a few years but I cannot see this ever happening at Yorkshire. Perhaps its a precursor to the re-branding of the T2O (falling crowds etc) to fall more in line with the more successful tournaments in Australia and India (large crowds) where the teams are named after cities rather than provinces.

They can call themselves what they want, The chairman and the committee are paid to maximise profit. i wont be watching if its Leeds however and i suspect many more would be in the same boat.

If the T20 franchise that sky wants comes to fruition be in no doubt they will want Leeds. Yorkshire will still play T20 in the secondary tournament, id hope more folk would go watch that competition.

I've never put a single penny into them, but my feelings are positive towards the team.

I am happy for a moment when they win, and I shrug when they lose.

If they become Leeds, however, I hope the newly-named Brighton, Manchester and Southampton teams **** them in the bum. Forever.

I'd be less than happy for the reasons stated above.

It'd be a different team in my mind, and not one I'd support.

They changed the rugby union side's name from Leeds to Yorkshire for the very reason that the cricket side will never be anything but Yorkshire. No other county has such strong identity and pride - maybe them from t'other side of t'hills but nowhere else seems to be as bothered.

Bit bizarre actually, Yorkshire playing against Rotherham and Donny

It's worked for the RU side too. I would never have considered going to watch them when they were called Leeds but now they're Yorkshire I find myself strangely interested in how they are doing and am thinking about going to watch a game. I know it's the same team but Yorkshire draws me to it.

i'd hate if we were ever badged up as leeds, i'd still want ?us? to win but wouldn't give a toss if they didn't,
and not sure of the commercial side of it, i had a yorks shirt with leeds ****** adverts on and got fecked of folk thinking i was from leeds,
south yorks people do like cricket too, also think those from other parts of west yorks will be even more tits't off!

for 1 it alienates the entire county and enforces the "we all hate leeds" chants,
can't see it happening , i'd hope we're too proud of our name but get goughy n vaughany in on it if they tried
