Of the current squad, how many could we realistically hope to sell on for a profit?

    Can't see any beyond Hourihane.

George smith would be a profit as we didn't pay out for him

Winnall, Scowen, Watkins, Mawson, Roberts, Davies, Bree. Id say a lot. It isnt the players that are the problem.

Do you think we'd make profit on what we paid for them? Not just bring money in but a net profit?

    Davies as he was free
    Roberts. As he was free
Scowen when his form picks up
    Smith
    James Bree
    Mawson
Winnall if we start playing him as a forward again. (Maybe)
    Watkins

Lots of potential and people pay for that.

Winnall is currently worth less than we paid for him. All the others will either sign new contracts or leave at the end of them, but they won't be sold.

Resale value is part of our problem if this is our long term strategy. We gamble on kids and those that are good enough will be sold on and we replace them with more young gambles. How can we build a team to make progress when we'll constantly keep going back to square one.

It is definitely part of the problem as we are just hoping to be a production line. Even bigger problem is what's coming off the production line.

Yeh. Winnall is our most valuable assett, a young goalscorer is a commodity. We paid nothing for Watkins did we? He's been probably our best player along with Scowen who's a terrific player. Roberts has already been linked away and Mawson is a well known young player in the football league, he'll have many suitors should he become available.

Any clubs scouting him at the moment wouldn't be willing to offer much for him.

Just a complete negativity blinding him to the obvious qualities of some of our players.

Incorrect. I am well aware of Winnall's qualities but the manager clearly isn't. I'd be surprised if he was on any club's radar at the moment.

You're deluding yourself if you think we are going to get money for all those players you mentioned.

Id imagine most professionally paid football scouts would see that Winnall is being asked to play a role that completely detracts from just about all his qualities yet is still our top goalscorer and main goal threat.

Maybe Winnall. We paid was it 250k? Then over a year in wages since being with us will be something like another 150k? Then himself and his agent probably got looked after for picking us. First season with us had one good spell and proved to be injured a fair bit. This season for whatever reason hasn't pushed on. We've probably invested around half a million in him already. He was a key player in a team that underperformed last season and even more so this season. I don't know if anyone would pay more than half a million for him.

So, for example, I made up that Birmingham bid a substantial amount of money for Roberts about a month ago.

It must be tiring being so negative about everything. Teatime in the Troutman home must be a dispiriting experience. "I would eat some toast but the quality of that bread is so poor I will look forlornly at it for a while then lambast it for not being chateaubriand the look forlornly at the butter comparing it to other people's butter and sadly finding it wanting while listening death metal and practising being sardonic".

He scored 14 in his first season at this level even after missing the middle 4 months, just when he was started to settle in to the level. Our top scorer so far this term being asked to play a role that doesnt suit him at all and dont forget he was League 2's top scorer 2 seasons ago. All points to him being a natural goalscorer, the biggest commodity there is in football. I'd imagine many a club will be keeping their eye on him.

Tbf, if he's subjected to Toast for tea everynight, no wonder he's so miserable.
