    From Altrincham forum:

    FA CUP MATCH: CLUB STATEMENT

"Altrincham FC were notified today by the FA at 1.45pm that our Emirates FA Cup game vs Barnsley had been chosen to be one of eight games moved to Sunday November 8th with a 2pm kick off for live single camera footage with an FA compensation fee of £12,500 payable to the club.

By 3.30pm we were notified by the FA that Barnsley FC would not agree to this move and therefore the game would remain on Saturday 7th November.

Representations were made to Barnsley FC by both our secretary, Derek Wilshaw, and myself but to no avail. They wished to stick to their Saturday /Tuesday game schedule and were averse to moving another fixture.

The FA have power to force clubs who are involved in a live game to play at a specified time and date. However, they are not happy to impose such sanctions when it involves a live single-camera game.

Therefore, unfortunately, we yet again lose out on an opportunity to parade our talents live in the FA Cup".

    Grahame Rowley, Chairman.

Well I'm sure there fans should understand it would in convince two sets of fans by moving our game on the Tues (a game planned a lot longer than this game next week) also they will probably earn more money through gate receipts than the TV money would earn them through fans who decided to not to go to the game that might now go.

For once I am totally with our club on this. We are 100% right not to want to play two cup ties on Sunday and Tuesday. We can't move the Tuesday one for which tickets have already been sold and so the FA Cup game needs to be on the Saturday.

The spin by Altrincham is totally out of order. Presumably they will be more than happy to take double the TV fee they quote when we fill their ground for them on the Saturday afternoon.

Football should be Saturday at 3 o'clock anyway.

Managers who complain about two games in a week are taking the piss, but a Sunday game followed by one on Tuesday is too close together.

Match Day - Rest Day - Training Day - Match Day. Sunday and Tuesday fixtures don't allow for that. Bit off of Altrincham to imply we're the bad guys here. Anyway, 3 pm Setdi is when football should take place.

More to the point, it's better for the fans. Imagine having to watch that tripe twice in three days.

I can see why we have. They can make us out to be the big bad football league team all they want, but seen as we've already got a game on the Tuesday, it makes better sense for us. It's something that has to be mutually agreed, they can't cry about it if it isn't.

Without sounding arrogant we will sell close to if not the entire allocation which will cover the loss of tv money.

If Altrinchams fans turn up as well then theb itll be close to a full house.

Gate receipts will be 80k if not more.

Lis the prize money for beating us.

We have been all to quick in the past to move Tuesday night games to Wednesday in the past when sky have moved the previous Saturday game. Less than 4000 for York game anyhow and as for Altrincham not losing 12500 pounds you will have to explain that to me as we will sell all our tickets whether we play Saturday or Sunday. For me BFC come across as poor in this. Why cant we help a bon league club out although having said that we do nothing for local non league teams in pre season etc prefering to go to Barton Staylbridge and Guiseley rather than Athersley Worsbrough and Shaw Lane.

Why should we help Altrincham out? Our fixture list comes first. Anyway if we're being samaritans you have to think about the York fans who have already booked time off work etc.

We never play Barnsley teams because sorting out tickets would be an absolute nightmare. None of the grounds hold more than 500.

Why don't we just declare on both games and give Altrincham and York byes. Hope that helps.

Our game against York has been arranged a much longer time. We are breaking no rules by looking out for ourselves. 12,500 is peanuts and not worth playing twice in three days for. We will still sell out our away tickets and if their locals care so much about playing a team at home from the highest possible division in a fairly local derby they will come regardless. I understand non league teams aren't rich, but it's sad the spin their chairman has put on it when it's clear they wanted to sell their soul to BBC for a nominal fee.
