I can see us getting one point (home, Port Vale) in November and maybe four in December (one home, Wigan; three home, Blackpool). That may even be optimistic. I don't think we have the leeway to bring in even the loanees that could make a difference. A fit Ryan Williams (for how long?) might improve things. That would take us to 19 for the half season (38 for the full season - extrapolated). Not being pessimistic here - or a doommonger - but this is my realistic assessment based on current form. On the plus side, we ought to progress in the Whitewash Trophy and the Cup. Can anyone give any good reasons why we could expect more than this?
There has been glimpses of what our team is capable of and I have got to hope that it can be turned around. So I'm still hoping for a top half finish and also the other teams in this league are also carp Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
I would say your assessment is quite an accurate one based on current results and performances. What worries me is that folk on here appear happy for us to tootle along because we have sacked too many managers, so its time to grin and bear it and see what happens hoping it all comes good. I hope it comes good but lets be realistic here, It wont happen with Lee Jay at the helm. Great at communicating, having said that heard diddly squat since Saturday, but appears to be adopting his coaching methods from a comic from the Local Newsagents. Never the less lets see how we perform at the Iron on Satday. I will be going to church in Flamborough Saturday to see if the good Lord can help in any way!!!!
I agree about the glimpses D, but glimpses are way short of what we need to actually win matches. Many of the other carp teams nevertheless appear better organised than us to extract points from our fixtures. Share your hope though.
20. Plus in the Third Round of the FA Cup & Area Final of the JP Trophy. I think we're capable. Not being optimistic here, or a Happy Clapper, but this is my realistic assessment.
November: Coventry 1-1 Barnsley Barnsley 3-1 Port Vale Oldham Athletic 1-2 Barnsley Barnsley 2-0 Sheff Utd December: Colchester 1-0 Barnsley Barnsley 3-2 Wigan Bury 2-0 Barnsley Barnsley 2-1 Blackpool Can feel a good run coming. It would be typical Barnsley to lose to Fleetwood and Crewe and then beat Wigan & Sheff Utd. With all the bad luck we've had I reckon it will be a case of what goes around comes around. I also sense that a re-think is happening at Oakwell with Crowley going back and the U21s drastically changing tactics from LJ's tippy tappy to direct football.
I'd say that was pretty close to my expectation too Orsen. Ryan 'Gridelet' Williams would make a difference but I don't hold much hope of him playing any time soon. As for the JPT I really don't give a monkeys; I'm just not interested in it.
That sort of change in tactics will count for nothing without a change in personnel - which is of course impossible at this stage of the season. Hope you're right though.
Hmmm....so we'll score 15 goals in 8 games? I hope you're right I really do, but we must be about to bring in a couple of season changing loans for that to happen. For a team to do that after failing to find the net (or even look like finding it) from open play in 6 games, that would be a monumental turn around
The last time I heard 'indefatigability' it was coming out of the mouth of an oaf called George Galloway. Not that I think Big Lil is anything like Saddam of course.
