http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p036n0cp Andy Giddings begins the interview by saying, "Clearly you are severely affected by injuries at the moment..." The rest of the interview continues the theme of us having an extensive injury list. Am I missing something? Are we missing anyone else other than Hourihane, Watkins and Williams? Don't get me wrong, they're all good players, but I don't think 3 injuries constitutes a crisis. It's pretty normal for a team to have a couple of players out. And it's not like Johnson can say he misses Williams as the lad has only ever played 25 minutes for him. Hourihane and Watkins would undoubtedly be in the side this weekend should they be fit, but it's just two players. Speaking of Williams, it sounds like he's just deciding not to play. Can you do that, and still get paid? Obviously, you can't push an injured player in to a game, or you shouldn't at any rate, but it sounds like Williams just doesn't fancy it. That's not right is it?
TBH I think it's either a PR or excuse building exercise, if we can't cope with that minimal level of disruption TBH it beggars belief.
Hourihne and Watkins account for most of our goals this season, so definitely severely affected, aye.
I've had those same feelings about Williams for a while. He's not injured in any physical way, just weak minded. Doesn't bode well.
But he gets paid loads of money so he can't possibly experience depression or have other mental issues (sarcasm).
Yes we haven't scored many were one of these two haven't either scored or assisted this season. But Connor is **** and jury still out on Watkins of course lol
I agree completely. It was a groin strain ffs but he's been out for months despite scans and medical professionals finding nothing wrong.
I don't think there's any suggestion of mental illness. Just needs to psychologically get over his injury. Needs to push himself.
Exactly. Bit annoying when depression gets thrown at you for mentioning psychology. Not the first time on the Williams subject.
When it boils down to it aren't we all just guessing on the majority of subjects we talk about? We look at the evidence and make an opinion. I stand by my point that not all psychological issues are depression related. This, in my opinion, is one of them. I've heard it talked about by other football managers, Fergie being one of them, sometimes players think they are injured but all medical opinion says they aren't. It's not depression. You're entitled to think differently if you like but you'll not make me feel bad for my opinion on it.
I'm not saying in this instance that Williams is depressed, thinking he's injured if he isn't certainly seems to be a mental issue though. My point was that having lots of money doesn't make everything alright, which lots of people on here seem to use an excuse to think they can say anything they want about a player. This isn't aimed at you Ponty btw, I just happened to reply to your post as I saw the words 'weak minded'.
No worries JD. I'll just say though, being nervous before a date or an exam, or worrying about a certain task at work are also mental issues, none are depression. There's loads of facets to psychology.
i'm depressed watching the bag a shlte.....gods knows what Williams thinks when Leejay tells him to hang back on the halfway line instead of (god forbid) going forward. hth
Don't forget Jamdrop is a rich teacher with an easy 'job' who doesn't live in the real world though so she hasn't a clue about struggles. If anyone wants me I'll be hiding under my bed
