Clinical depression is an extremely serious and often life-threatening condition. In the absence of proper diagnosis (which would probably be kept confidential in any event) it shouldn't be bandied about lightly on here when we're discussing footballers and their motivational issues.
I wouldn't even say those were issues as such, just part of the human condition. I have no idea if Williams has psychological issues, be that depression or anything else. I just don't think you can say that you don't want to do your job and continue to be paid. As an employer Barnsley FC have a duty of care to their to their employees and I'm pleased to see they're taking that seriously, but this can't go on indefinitely, surely? Jamdrop is right to say that how rich you are or how successful you are does not affect how prone your are to psychological conditions. It makes no difference at all. But those who are rich and successful tend to be treated a hell of a lot better if they are struck down with mental illness.
I'd say they are issues, for some. Some handle those nerves easily, for others they can become a seemingly major problem that prevents them carrying out said task. Totally agree about the money/depression point. Your earnings has no relevance.
Don't be sily. Lee Johnson has said he won't be loaning another player for at least another 4 days. 4 chuffing days
if you rush back from a groin tear you can risk permanent injury or disablement, even if its after Christmas he his back it don't matter aslong as he is rate, he is only young, no point fecking his career up ,if it was me I wouldn't be playing till I felt no pain
Yes, I agree, just 3 injuries. Then Crowley has gone back and so has Rothwell. So now we can choose from Bree, Harris, Digby, Pearson, Scowen and Isgrove in midfield, or Winnall, Smith, Jackson, White and Wilkinson up front. Not exactly struggling for options. Regarding Ryan Williams, I've no idea what's going on there. Every time he is mentioned, Johnson seems to be on the brink of saying his issues are psychosomatic, before saying that his injuries are real. It's an odd one.
Injuries is nonsense. We had Williams out all season & up until a fortnight ago the only other injury we had was Crowley missing about a week. Overall, the football was dire when we just had Williams out. I remember posting on here 'just imagine how bad it'd be like if we had a few injuries like most other teams' & others said the same & it's proving to be the case.
We're basically missing Hourihane. I'm convinced if we didn't have him last season we'd have got relegated and if he'd missed all of this season we'd probably be in administration... Well, maybe that's stretching it a bit. I can't remember a Barnsley team so reliant on one player.
