Wasn't Ryan Williams injured when we signed him?

If so, hardly the best bit of transfer business BFC has ever been involved in.

Really hope we get him back for the second half of the season.

He must have passed a medical. Or perhaps not?

He was but it was only a groin strain. Prognosis was fit within two to four weeks. Why does it always seem to happen to us. The prognosis is now out indefinitely.

I got the impression that LJ was uncomfortable with the question in his interview, like he wanted to say more than he did.

looks like we've dropped a right bollock signing him, nothing worse than a torn groin

Many people on here were demanding the club sign him. And they duly obliged.

But the people demanding his signature didn't know he was injured!

We've signed players before with broken bones, long term injuries and persistent problems. Then a deal breaks down cos a fit regular performing player fails a medical?!? I don't quite get it misen

I was one of those who celebrated his signing. We've had 20 minutes out of him since he arrived; he's been unable to play the rest of the time. It's a groin strain, not a broken back. Right now I wish we hadn't bothered; Phil Gridelet would have been a better option.

With the original fee, signing on fee for picking us, agents fee, his wages since signing and his medical expenses on top I bet we've already invested over 200k in him just for that short home cameo performance. Plenty of us wanted him but rather wait until he's fully fit before gambling so much on him that would have been better spent elsewhere.

I thought it a strange signing at the time, as he was injured when we got him; we paid a fee for him according to the press; he was injured whilst with us last season. Surely we must have known the nature of the injury, because it strikes me that it is the same one. Odd!

Is this the same groin strain he suffered literally about a year ago while with Australia U23s? A groin strain that's kept him out bar one 20 minute cameo for a year? It must be a psychological thing. He didn't get the best reception when his touch/passing/everything else was awful vs Swindon this season and I just wonder whether that's put him off coming back into the side, the fear of being cajoled for having a poor game (which I would hope most would allow given it'd be his first appearance for a year). I almost hope that's the case, and that it's not something serious physically.

God only knows. I for one am not expecting to see him turn out for us any time in the near future. Yet another sorry, embarrassing episode in the recent life of our once proud club..

Makes you wonder whether there's a non-footballing reason for his absence.

I was pleased when I heard we'd signed him. I thought he did very well for us last season. Don't remember demanding we sign him though.

I wouldn't have signed him if he was injured though. We've been burnt doing that in the past. Maybe he wasn't, maybe he passed the medical and the fitness test, but if he didn't, I would have waited until he did. If that meant we missed out on him, then so be it. Once Richard Kelled, twice shy.

We do seem to sign an inordinate amount of crocked players. I'm sure that this lost is far from comprehensive, but the ones I remember are:

    Richard Kell
    Phil Gridelet
that lad from Leeds whose name escapes me

If I remember correctly Steve Davis arrived injured, and spent a massive chunk of his time with us on the treatment table. To be fair he did play a very key role in our promotion, and was an incredibly classy defender when fit.

Maybe it happens with all clubs and I just pay more attention to BFC.

I think people are going to be massively disappointed when he does get fit.

The main reason he did so well (in my opinion anyway) is that we played 2 strikers in front of him & he was at the tip of the diamond with acres of space to run into & cause havoc but if I actually look at his assets, he's sloppy in possession, didn't seem to be good at shooting & wasn't a good crosser of a ball.

I'd be very surprised if he has a similar impact playing wide in a 4-5-1 as he did in the diamond.

He also joined us at a time when we had Cranie, Ramage, Bailey, Hourihane, Cole & Winnall all fit & playing well. He's coming into a much poorer side

Said the same thing myself. Good player in Danny's diamond formation - but yet another square peg in a round hole in any other role....

We signed Steve Hayward with a hole in his knee. A gret big **** off hole.
