    Admin was the last option after a separate takeover deal fell apart

    The mistake they made was not putting Mr Cryne's offer to the shareholders. Admin could have been avoided. Perhaps.

    How many businesses are owned by a single person who has appointed a board of just 4? People? Patrick has stated on Facebook that he authorises signings so it can't be claimed that Ben mansford rules the club when he is part of a small board overseen by a owner who has final say on decisions

    Never said Mansford rules the club, I said he runs it. Which he still does with Patrick authorising signings.

    People run pubs, restaurants, video shops, KFCs, but they still have to have certain things approved by someone more senior, in Mansford's case the owner Patrick Cryne.

    I thought we were talking about communications, not responsibility? You're all over the place with these replies.

    Patrick approved the appointment of Mansford, so if that appointment is/was deemed unsuccessful then the buck stops with him, naturally. Don't think anyone would argue against that.

    Sorry you're right, I lost the original point of the thread. When it comes to communication I think that the majority should be done by the ceo and chairman but if an owner overruling decisions or being actively involved and making all the major decisions then when it comes to the fallout of those decisions then said owner should take responsibility and not leave others to take the flack otherwise all youve employed is a fall guy. And that's in any kind of business really.

    Patrick has attended fans forums and allowed the minutes of those to be shared. His Facebook page has gone quiet recently, but that was in full swing a few weeks ago. Whilst this isn't reaching the full fan base, it's an improvement on previous years and I'm happy with that. I don't think we need to hear from him more often than that.

    Mansford should have released some statements recently though. And if Johnson was to get the sack tonight, I'd fully expect a comment from our owner or something within Mansford's statement giving the owner's view.

    I don't think we need to hear from Watkins right now.

    John Dennis is an hero and if ever we had a statue outside the ground he'd be one of the most deserving candidates. Giving a small miners town premiership football, comfortably a championship level team, all seater stadium, decent academy all because of him. We had players we could relate to as they were with us long term and our own. It all beats having a struggling head coach and a team of loanees and inexperienced youngster at this level and fighting a relegation battle.

    Another person to add into the mix during this period was Michaels Spinks, who was the equivalent to todays Ben Mansford, who did lots of great things for the club at that time and helped John Dennis enormously.

    And guess who was sat infront of me at the game today? none other than Michael Spinks!!!

    Has Abramovitch spoken at fans forums or made statements now his team or on the slide? No. Same goes for the majority of owners. John Dennis happened to be Charman of Barnsley FC Ltd., representing in the region of 400 shareholders. The late Benny Hill told me he was offered a substantial sum for his shares when we got promoted to the Premiership. The club sent out a letter to shareholders asking them not to sell, and as Benny said, it was the worst mistake of his life. He never had any time for Dennis after that.

    Few wanted Wilson the season we went up. Dennis made a good decision and got lucky. Fair play to him.

    That's what some people don't get. If Hristov's header goes in it's a different story. Fine margins win games and create history. But fans see black and white.

    JD did a great job and held his nerve to keep Wilson when the fan base would have got shut. But he ruled in a different era and had years of division 1 football when the pressure to succeed was far less.

    JD did good and bad things whilst in power at Oakwell, I'll always hold him in high regard. But I won't be asking him to come back, or trying to compare PC with him or vice versa. Different eras, far too many variables. But I'm certain Mr Cryne wants the best for BFC and he too has done good and bad things whilst in power at Oakwell.


    The majority on here wanted Mr Cryne and co to be patient and back a manager for once. He looks to be doing exactly that with LJ. I won't knock him for that.

    I don't know the details about JD and would be wrong to make comment. He was in charge when we got into the Prem and when we were relegated and went bust. However what always dissapoints me about our club is that we seem to have a trend seeing the past as the saviour for our future. There is often threads that seem to look at the Halcyon days gone by and see something that will fix our problems and be the future of our club. Danny Wilsons reappointment, the constant call for Redders, Bobby et al to be involved are examples. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying something totally different and new also works, but I would hope we can be more progressive, imaginative and forward thinking as a club than hope the past will save our future.
