Due diligence helps but you're right that there is always a risk with any appointment. I never understood why they approached him in the first place, well I didn't at the time but I think it's becoming clear. His CV was nothing special, it was average at best and he had a reputation for playing boring defensively minded football. I know this is pure speculation but what if the credit for those wins has to go to Hecky and Burton?
