It's in the past and ended in tears (twice in DW's case) I'm not advocating sacking LJ, but if we do let's have a fresh, but more experienced face in. No idea at the moment as I've not really looked to see who is out there and available of course. I also acknowledge that there has to be a revised plan for the club's direction in that experienced players must be allowed in if the new manager wishes. For me we're crying out for a Keeper and a midfielder.
Looking back to the halcyon days of the 90s/early millennium will get us nowhere.

Twice in JD's case also. He also bankrupted his own company having put all his eggs in one basket, same as S R Gent.

And yet Barry Taylor sits on the board. That is the most baffling thing at oakwell

They need a manager with a track record of developing young players if they're going to persist with this strategy of only signing bairns.

But they should've known that before they got Johnson

That implies he does nothing, therefore he's not effecting anything and thus is not part of the problem.
I take your point about him being a blast from the past though.

Why does it imply he does nothing? I think he does a lot

Perhaps I misinterpreted 'sits on the board' incorrectly. Also, I know many on here ask exactly what does he do.

I have asked that question in the past but now I have realised what he does and why he's there

I know he's an FA Life President and that he is instrumental in bringing any Internationals to Oakwell. I'm not sure as to his daily involvement at Oakwell though.

Rotherham, Donny, and both Sheffield clubs have had internationals at their grounds too recently.

I'm sure its been said before by either Gally or Dyson that Don't used to put forward ideas but was constantly outvoted by Barry and Patrick

Don't think the others, especially Donny &Rotherham have had as many as us ( not that we've had a lot) Didn't we have 2 under 21s in a short space of time.

What benefits as a club are we seeing through his involvement?

Since cryne took over we've had an under 19s friendly which cranie played in, an under 19s cup game about 8 years ago, a ladies game and the under 21s catastrophe this year.

BT is there for his connections with the FA.

How do we benefit from that? What do those connections bring to bfc?

Purely speculating, but I imagine that Barry understands any impact of new rules and regulations better than directors with no FA connections.

Maybe this allows him to get us planning better for legislation change? Maybe he has a greater understanding of what other clubs are doing well and poorly, and in a board meeting can give advice on that?

Answer is, we just don't know. But I bet most clubs don't know what the non exec members of their board do.

Maybe not but I'd imagine most clubs don't have a board member purely because they've got fa connections and seem to manage (a whole lot better than us too).

I'm not accepting speculation on this either, same as speculation can't be accepted on the DW sacking.

This whole BBS is built on speculation this weekend. Might as well close it down :)

There's clubs over recent years been in far greater disarray than us. Maybe thaey'd have benefitted from having Barry on board?*

    * I'm not a Barry Taylor fan at all by the way. The minute he voted in favour of Leeds United and Ken Bates I wanted ...... better not say what I wanted. Stick on a head?

If Barry is so knowledgeable on rules it makes you wonder why we needed to bring don in to be a consultant in league regulations doesn't it.
