Two competitive games since 2012, and five years since he played for us?

You can almost hear the sound of the bottom of the barrel being scraped.

He obviously wants to play for us.

Compare him to feckin Mido! At least he looks something like in shape - if a little rusty. If he's not up to it then the club wont offer him anything but he could be a useful addition on low wages - and a permy rather than a loan signing.

Ill admit it looks lie we dont have any money to spend but we could do with an older head in the middle.

Not sure if we can be 100% sure about the amount of games he's had since 2012, if youre going by Wiki. Not saying you're wrong though, I don't see a problem with getting him on trial. He should be on peanuts and it's refreshing to see a player actually wanting to play for us. Or even pay as you play contract. We definitely need something to change

What we need is a LEADER, not just an older head, we need someone that can tell the youngsters what they are doing wrong and lead by example. I dont think Colace is that type of player.

The fact that were giving him a trial tell's you all you need to know about Barnsley FC !

Mismanagement of the highest order, hence our current position in the bottom 4 !!

Well said? Just because he's old doesn't mean he is a leader in the middle. Everyone at the club knows that he was anything BUT a leader when he was here.

Perhaps he's here to take over the catering

I think a bit much is being made of this. He's been begging for a trial for years and we've finally said yes. No loss to us if he doesn't make the cut...

The problem is that apart from Lee Johnson's time being taken up trialling him, the space in the training squad being taken up by him which could have gone to seeing if another player is up to it and the distraction it causes, there's also the fact that bfc is a public facing company and its perception by the viewing public is vital to its success. If the club is seen to be desperate and giving trials to any old has been it makes us look a bit amateurish and that is something we can I'll afford.

What are you going on about.

Football clubs take players on trial all the time.

Paul Digby was on trial at Man United for f*cksake.

Having Hugo Colace on trial can in no way harm BFC.

He's been with Auxerre and two Argentine Premier League clubs in recent years (Olimpo and Argentinos). If you check the squads of these clubs, for the last three seasons, you'll soon see he's barely kicked a ball. If you use google translate and do a bit of digging, it'll show you he picked up an injury quite quickly in France, and again once with Argentinos. The last piece of news regards him that I found was an article with a photo of him signing for Olimpo, 6th January 2015. Yet he never played a game according to their squad listings/fixtures played etc etc.

So, whilst he's been begging to return here (not sure of his motive) and we could do with some experienced heads, you cannot help but look upon all this and feel bemused. In fact, I would have been less staggered if it was Bobby Hassell returning, and we all know how unlikely that is.

However, it's not just the bemusement factor of signing a former player who was hit and miss with us who has probably played less football than Hassell, it's the fact Lee Johnson can't know much about him (although he did play against him in Hugo's final BFC appearance). So obviously will have folk again asking who is recruiting laikers..

I do though hope he comes in, smashes it up in training and goes on to be the bloke who leads us to the Championship, as I'm sure we all do. Except Jay of course.

Maybe that's why he's being trialled? So LJ can have a look at him? Revolutionary I know, modern use of trials isn't what it used to be.

I'm an old head and would love to play for us. Can I have a trial, please LJ?

PS - I'm a goalie as well and twenty nine years ago I was pretty good. I'm probably still better than baby Bluto who you are playing at the moment.

Fans asking for experience so LJ gives a TRIAL to a experienced laiker.

Fans moan because LJ has given a TRIAL to a experienced laiker.

I hope he impresses and gets signed up.

Smiley's are always helpful. I know I give off the impression that I'm ace, but sometimes I fall short and I'm just great. This was one of those times.
