Wrong. I don't think he's done a bad job. The only argument I hear against him is he speaks well (???) He's done a reasonable job on the sponsorship front. Just another target for the persistent moaners.
Suppose it depends whether you think the results are entirely down to the manager or if you think how we perform as a club is a team effort with the owner, chairman, CEO, board, manager, head of recruitment, coaches, players and various other positions within the club all responsible, be the results good or bad. For a long time, many people have held the view, like yourself, that the buck stops with the manager. He is the one with sole responsibility for how the team perform. When things have gone wrong, the manager has been blamed and it's been his position that has come under threat. However, as we've sacked more and more managers, but our performances and results have continued to get worse and worse, many people are now questioning if there is more to our fall from grace than just the performance of our managers. Particularly as many of those we have sacked are performing very well at other clubs. For many, that shift in mindset came after the sacking of Wilson. And it wasn't just because they liked the fella. They looked at where we were in the summer (a couple of weeks before the season kicked off we couldn't put a team together), they looked at some of the players we recruited (some decent lads here), they thought back about some of the performances we'd put in (exciting play, good wins), they looked at the injury list, they looked at the league table and they thought, the football's a bit drab at the moment, but in reality, we're not doing that bad here, why the hell we sacking another manager? From that point on, people have started to look elsewhere and examine the roles and the performance of the other people at the club. You don't think Ben Mansford has done a bad job. You're perfectly entitled to that opinion. Could you tell us why you believe that? What has he brought to Barnsley FC, how have we improved as a club, either on or off the pitch since he arrived? You blame our results solely on the manager. Again, you're perfectly entitled to that opinion. It's almost universally acknowledged that the team is lacking experienced players. It seems every other club in the division can afford a host of experienced players. Can you explain to me why it is the fault of Lee Johnson that we don't appear able to do that?
Lower crowds, Oakwell like a morgue, terrible football, terrible results but **** it we've got the Pukka Pies Stand. He's an arsehole.
Practice what you preach Doc, Marc is still waiting for you to offer up the alternative manager and board suggestions.
Oh yes Mr Watcher My opinion is another load of Carp tomorrow. More silence from Oakwell and a nice little cup upset on Saturday to bring the current situation to a satisfactory conclusion.
