Remember it well. I think we'd the third best defence that season. Bittersweet though for me, as the lack of entertainment meant that the last game I attended with my dad/grandad was a 2-1 home win against Watford. I'm sure we'd all be happier this season if we'd won a few more games even if the performances were as bad as they've been. But I think football generally, not just in Barnsley, underestimates the value to supporters of being entertained.

There was no need to have a gamble when LJ was appointed but there's plenty out there who could come in starting with Cooper who was brilliant last year but lost most of that squad in the summer.

they promoted him from assistant manager at swindon. before that, he'd been sacked at darlington. if we sacked johnson and gave someone the job with those credentials, you'd be going fcukin spare. they also sacked him quick sharp, after a tough spell. and you'd be demanding the club did exactly the same.

the point i'm demonstrably making donny, is that all these successful managers, had no fantastic CV behind them when they were given their job. the club saw something, gave them a chance and backed them. basically you're playing laws of probability. just keep hiring and firing the manager every year, and eventually one of em will pay off. just like it did with wilson

But at Swindon he guided them into the play offs, being possibly the most attractive team to watch. So now he does have a proven track record of achieving something, LJ doesnt and lets be honest, LJ is never going to make a successful football manager is he?

    Got to disagree

Dont accept that weve got to stick with a manager whos clearly out of his depth and lurching from one panic decision to another. The writing is on the wall, we're literally just waiting for the bullet to be fired, and from his general demeanour at the moment, Johnson looks like he's waiting for be relieved of his duties. The warning signs started last season with the disasterous run at the end, then preseason was mostly contradictory nonsense and if we didnt pick up on what was happening, he put it in a Powerpoint for all to see.

no current league 1 manager would touch us? Id argue that if we made the right kind of money available (salary and budget) then we are a better option for an ambitious manager than say Burton Albion. And I certainly think there's lots of decent options that are currently out of work. I'd drive Warnock from Plymouth to Barnsley every Saturday if it swung the deal. And there's others.

I absolutely believe the best way to finding the right manager is to do proper due diligence, and I cannot see how that was done with Johnson. Wasting more time and money on a project that is clearly not working is bonkers. Get a decent replacement lined up by Saturday 5pm cos as sure as eggs is eggs, with this guy and his tactics we are going out of the Cup with a bang.

    Re: Got to disagree

I put it to LJ last night how his best XI, which he claims to know, would line up. Quite clear it would be a back four and only reason for three big centre halves is lack of bite from a midfield two. Vision is Hourihane can be that all rounder. But I'm worried we'd put even more on his shoulders doing that. Needs to be behind the top of a 442 diamond with Watkins dropping back to a 451 when defending

His strategy is to keep it tight and nick games 1 nil - that worked when we went on a run last season but failed towards the end dramatically. We wont be playing anything like the entertaining football some seem to think with Johnson in charge, Oldham fans warned us, his brand of football is dull. 1 up front and another striker on the wing, if we're lucky. Whilst you're winning, its tolerated. When you're losing, you generally get fired much quicker - hence my incredulity at people saying give him time....???!!!! get shut ffs Patrick.

Theres just no defence of the bloke anymore. It's the worst I can remember in a long time, probably edging end of the road Davey and keeping him is suicide.

They didn't have a track record either. That's my point. And as for LJ never making a successful manager. I seem to remember everybody saying the same about Hill and Flitcroft, when they wanted their heads on a stick...

The club should definitely crowdsource the next manager. The club are abject failures at appointing the right man. You've all said the same yourselves. You would all absolutely make a better decision. They should make the next man your choice.

I think somebody who has never watched a football match would have a decent chance of appointing a better manager than these ****s and I say that sincerely.
